GREENWOOD — A 5-year-old boy has been killed after falling off an all-terrain vehicle in western South Carolina.

Multiple media outlets reported that an autopsy for Samuel Quarles of Greenwood was planned Monday. He died from injuries in the Sunday crash.

Authorities say Quarles was driving his small four-wheeler when he fell off and into a ditch. He was taken to a hospital were he was pronounced dead.

Officials say the child was wearing a helmet.

My friend is planning on buying ATVs for her twins on their 4 year-old birthday. A group of us got into an argument/debate on whether it is safe or not. I dont think it is safe cuz my stepmom's cousin lost her 10 year old son to an ATV accident a few years ago.

What do you think?

That's like asking if it's ok for a 4 year old to drive a car.

Absolutely not.

But there are people stupid enough out there to let their kids use such a vehicle and then they cry when their kids get hurt or killed. The parents are to blame if they let their kids do such a thing.

Well, it's just not a wise idea to give a child an ATV because of the risks associated with it.
