Shooting with casualties at Washington Navy Yard

This is perfect method of advertisement that the zone is a gun free zone giving shooters perfect opportunity to screw somebody else and run.

If there is no gun free zone, the shooters will be likely unable to find opportunity to commit and run.

It does ponder me on wondering why Americans have not notice the history on prohibitions. We had alcohol prohibition and the problems only gets worse until they dropped the ban. Also with drug prohibition going on, more and more new dangerously designer drugs getting widely available sending suckers to emergency room with their potential final destination at graveyard. When one decided to prohibit guns, there will be more negative consequences going to happen regardless.

I believe the only way to relieve these kind of problem is, expect it to happen again regardless, and allow truly law abiding citizen CCW. Once there is enough CCW law abide citizen exists, these cowards aren't going to risk their lives.

I personally feel more safer around people who have guns than being around nobody that got gun.

That fact that this was a Naval Base with soldiers and was still a gun free zone screams arrogant hypocrisy.

Take for example a combat fighter pilot that can zip through the sky at mach 4 armed with a nuke but cannot carry his sidearm while on base ... he can destroy an entire city .... but ... but ... its those damn demon possessed AR-15's!!!! gotta ban them !!!!

:gpost:

Definetly

BTW, are you sure it was AR-15?

Now there was two suspects on the run, right? How come they don't continue to shoot anyone? The answer is too crystal clear... Every law officers now armed and many have their machine guns already loaded and ready to go, all over the DC/MD/VA area, this scares two suspects shytless already and the chances of them going to shoot again is far slim!

I would bet my ass that these two suspects probably already somewhere in Maryland where they got strict gun control law, no way in VA cause VA have lenient gun control law (VA is "shall issue" state, while MD is "Maybe issue" state).

BTW, are you sure it was AR-15?

The claim is that it was the civilian version of the M16 with a 3 round burst.

That would make it a select fire AR-15 that can be purchased legally with a class III permit (or an M16 5.56 NATO).

Don't forget that it includes manipulate original ID to create a fake ID. ;)

what do you think what a "high-tech" ID is like?

a simple laminated card where you can just cut out a photo and put your photo in like in movie? you do realize that high-tech ID doesn't do lamination anymore, right? it's digitally printed onto card with hologram and has RFID inside.

Only if your a step or two behind. Do you think nobody is a step ahead of law? If nobody is really a step ahead, then this incident won't have happened, right? Maybe you need a reality check.

Unless a person is on some kind of watch list, there's no need to fake or steal an ID card. If the shooter was working at the base there would be no reason to "sneak" in.

One can also get a visitor's pass. The museum on the base is open to the public. It's not that hard to get onto the base itself.

It's harder to get thru the interior gates.

too many people these days are watching too many action flicks...

*smh*

perhaps you need a reality check... here's a simple quiz for you - is it doable to create a fake driver license now?

Ur funny, nothing to do with movies.

I'm not changing my stance, there is always at least somebody that is a step or two ahead from the rest of us. Of course, it is not easy but still there are at least somebody out there that are smarter and have patience waiting for perfect opportunity. Majority of them are just plain idiots.

let's see....

Navy Yard shooting rampage: 12 dead, suspect identified - CNN.com

Who opened fire at the headquarters for Naval Sea Systems Command -- and why -- remains unclear.

The dead suspect has been fingerprinted and identified, a government official with detailed knowledge of the investigation told CNN's Deborah Feyerick.
somebody said the shooter was a civilian contractor from Texas... so I suppose he had a credential to get in and somehow he snuck a weapon in.

The violence started unfolding at 8:20 a.m. when several shots were fired inside the southeast Washington facility.
southeast Washington facility... did he have an access to get in there? or did he kill someone to get in? :dunno:

The headquarters -- the workplace for about 3,000 people -- is the largest of the Navy's five system commands. It has a fiscal year budget of nearly $30 billion.

...

"And the Navy has managed to keep it secure while it has been open to the public," she told reporters.

The Washington Navy Yard -- the Navy's oldest land establishment -- was created in 1799 following an act of Congress, according to the Naval History and Heritage Command. Originally envisioned as a shipbuilding and fitting facility on the Anacostia River, it serviced some of the Navy's most famous early vessels, including the USS Constitution.
like what Reba said.... maybe he got thru tourist area... maybe not....

the security at many government museums are pretty tight. they do pat you down, inspect your bags, hand-wand you, make you go thru metal detector, etc.

so chance is - he had a proper credential to get in and went berserk like Fort Hood shooter.

Again, smartest crooks don't give damn about your question.

:ty: for answering my question. you can't create fake driver license. it pretty much shows there's a disconnect between what you thought and what's happening in real life. you can't create a fake high-tech ID. you can't create a fake passport.

it's nearly impossible nowadays.... all thanks to 9/11 improvements. it's much easier to steal one than to create a fake one unless you're very connected... that would means a very sophisticated and well-funded terrorist organization.

it's also easier to get a real one under false pretense than to create a fake one. time to get a reality check!

Jiro, you still missed my point. As far as I remember, there have been several airplane hijacks during 70's. I am sure Reba remembers these days during 70's so airport tighten up security then got lenient later in 80's and become more lenient during 90's giving terrorist perfect opportunity with 9/11. Terrorist have made attempt blow up WTC during 90's but failed. So they wait until perfect timing on 9/11 where nobody is really paying attention EVEN with higher technology security involved... BAM! twin towers gone south.

My point is, regardless of ID BS technology BS there will always be somebody that figured security cracks and get though. All they (Crooks) need is patience and perfect opportunity regardless of tighten up security technology or laws. Which part of this paragraph you don't understand, Jiro?

what I don't understand is your invalid argument.

Rest assured, and I can bet you my ass, incident like this won't be the last one. There will be another one, wanna bet with me?
