sad day for me

simple: my nose told me. :giggle: (one can also tell by accidentally stepping in it.)

you step on it with your bare foot? I asked this because most Americans wear shoes in home but I don't lol.

i don't go barefoot because i've stepped on one too many sharp objects, so i always wear slippers or shoes.

fortunately, i've never stepped in dog doo. i always smell it before i step in it.

well, tigger is already 12 years old and my trainer thinks that she is looking at retirement over the next 2-3 years.

i think that's great travis is picking up on sign language easily! did you know that dogs pick up on visual languages (like asl) and facial expressions faster than they do auditory cues? dogs are very visual in nature which explains why this is the case.

yep! Animals are very physical in nature - they rely very heavily on body languages. You can easily read dog's mood by simply looking at his/her tail and ears! That's why experts said to not to look in the eyes or bare your teeth in confrontation.

exactly, jiro. there have been a few times where i've accidentally "stared down" tigger without meaning to. sometimes i hear a sound, stop what i'm doing and hold a particular facial expression until i can figure out what i've heard and tigger just happens to be directly in front of me when that happens. when it does, tigger usually bounces over to me, wags her tail and starts licking me. (yuck!)

Same with Travis. I get my entire face and neck washed clean!

And Jiro, you are so right about dogs and body expression. I can't even count the number of expressions...including smiles...Travis has shown over the years.

wow, you have a real good nose and can smell shape!!!!

shape? that's new to me..... smelling a shape...

"it smells like...... irregular circle!"

i'm sorry, but i couldn't help but laugh at your post, jiro. (no offense to liebling.) :laugh2: :laugh2:

don't mind me liebling, okay? i'm cranky because of the cold weather and need something to laugh at.

i've always said here on ad that i have no desire to see. i take that back. one of the things i'd like to see most (besides the faces of my family members and friends) is tigger's face. some people have told me that she cocks her head to one side when she listens intently to something. they also tell me that they can see how much tigger loves me by looking at her eyes.

You know without seeing her just how much she adores you. You don't need vision to "see" that. It's the undying devotion, the selflessness, unconditional love, forgiveness...humans could learn many lessons from our canine friends. :grouphug:

that would be nice but dog's facial expression is NOTORIOUSLY inaccurate. Just because it looks like it's smiling doesn't mean it's smiling. btw - that's #1 reason why people got bitten. What DeafDoc1 said is outstanding. It's hard to explain... the deep, unspoken bond between dogs and humans is something that non-dog owners cannot understand. if there's one thing that many humans have forgotten these days - like DeafDoc1 said... it's the undying, unselfish, unconditional loyalty beyond the call of duty.

There's nothing greater than having a canine at your side, wherever you go.
