sad day for me

I'm very sorry to know how you feeling about your Trigger! Here is  It's good that you keep Trigger.

As you mentioned that your new guide dog and Trigger doesn't get on along. The vet told me that many pets doesn't get along at start is normal... They will get used it within 6 weeks time... I speak out of my experience. Sussi live alone for 17 years until I found Kim as 6 weeks old kitten in the forest and take care of. Sussi hissed on Kim... The Vet told me to not worry.... they will get use within 6 to 8 weeks time... Yes, the vet is right...

thanks, liebling. <hugs>

it's good to know that tigger and my new guide dog have the potential to bond with each other in 2 months' time. i hope that's the case!

hi everyone,

i promised to update you on how tigger's vet appointment went yesterday. according to what he said, tigger has a bladder infection and was given a med to take daily. he also suggested that i take her out frequently as i have been so as not to encourage accidents in my apartment.

later today i will head to the pet store to purchase the items reba, guila, jiro and lucia recommended.

how many pounds does jilli weigh?

by the way, i also explain to the general public that tigger and i are a team. i always explain to them that she can't work if we don't rely on each other.

I think she weighs about 30 kg (or it could be pounds).

I'm glad that your vet apointment went well.

That's great news, Hear Again. Is there a chance that she can continue to work if the incontinence and the UTI resolve? Or does she need to retire for other reasons, too?

i have severe carpal tunnel syndrome in my left wrist, so tigger will need to be retired even if her bladder control problem is solved.

until i can train with another guide dog, i plan to "semi-retire" tigger and continue using her in public whenever i need to.

speaking of which, tigger has been on her med for a few days now and hasn't had any accidents in my apartment. :D

I am glad to hear that Tigger's bladder is doing better and that she's stopped having accidents. :) Give Tigger a hug from me!

Sorry about your CTS. Is there a chance Tigger can re-learn to guide you on the right? I'm amazed how fast Travis is picking up sign language, thought he might be too old to figure it out (or care).

Great news on Tigger's bladder issue. So glad it was something easily treatable.

yes, they are!

in fact, tigger's accidents have stopped ever since she started her med.

needless to say, i'm thrilled about that! :D

very nice!! btw - how do you know Tigger accidentally peed?

well, tigger is already 12 years old and my trainer thinks that she is looking at retirement over the next 2-3 years.

i think that's great travis is picking up on sign language easily! did you know that dogs pick up on visual languages (like asl) and facial expressions faster than they do auditory cues? dogs are very visual in nature which explains why this is the case.
