rich gets richer

since when it is measured by charity donation? It's not how much Obama donated.... it's what Obama has done for us.... like being the President of United States...

I'd say what you have done for society compared to Obama is pretty darned paltry.

I think stirring up the pot to inflame others on a forum is not exactly something I'd be proud of decades later. I can think of better things to do with my free time to help others or to influence others.

And to top it off, We don't know what koko actually thinks because he just sends in op articles and polls and so on. I guess he has no aims higher than that of being a rabble rouser.

Seen too many people who sit on their arses while I worked my own arse off, overtime every night to be able to pay my bills and put something towards savings!...And they had the "gall" to say...."Oh you must be rich"! whenever I bought a new car....even at the grocery store when I bought a lot of groceries.....Had it said to me many, many times....

What I've worked for, what I've saved, I've also given some to charity...without any "Thank You's"!...And they still will hold their hand out for more...

I am not rich, not by anyone's standards. I was just a hard worker, willing to put in extra hours, even a part-time job when necessary.

For those "rich" people the OP is talking about, wanting to tax them even more....pisses me off!....They have paid their dues...worked hard for their $$....it's theirs to do what they please with!

Done with complaining? :)

It shows something about his character.

many Hollywood celebrities have their own charity programs... why? for PR purpose. Their character doesn't match up with their action.

Touche'.

You do what you want, and I can do mine. Eh? Don't like, don't read or respond. And, certainly keep using that ignore button, too. It's a choice after all.

you don't like what deafskeptic said?

ignore button. use it.

:hmm: I didn't see him complain about her post...

Right. Quite strange in seeing that response. After all, I have been encouraging people to use the ignore button instead of complaining about posters. Boy, talk about trying to twist words here.

Complaining??...Nah....my motto is....When my days are all over, and the world has come to pass...
I hope they bury me upside down, and you can kiss my ass....

I'm surprised nobody has said anything about how to measure this claim of "the rich is getting richer, the poor is getting poorer"...

intellectualizing, I realize, may "soften" or kill the debate.

Lorenz curve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

1. Extend Bush tax cuts?
2. Cut middle class tax ratios?

I'd rather have a bit more "equality" of income/wealth in a recession than to continue the pressure of the lower and middle classes to make ends meet. But that's just me.:-o

1.Let Bush tax cuts expire.
2.Feds need some austerity measures...especially in defense (which is happening...Sec. Defense Gates had some announcement not too long ago about cutting their budget...anybody have links as to long-term fiscal impact to fed expenditure percentage by department?)
3. Long-term growth and stabilizing incomes with boomer retirements in mind.
4. Vouchers for free mountain dew :shock::shock:

funny how kokonut says 'we're free to do what we what' and that its wrong to think ' absolutel power corrupts' even thought money is a form of power and more so in 'gates' position he was from a wealthy family background with access to education and information, workoholic? nah i dont believe it, he was a drop-out too, but thats because he know what he was doing..Obama is crap, he hasnt done much,(only reason recession 'stopped' is cuz the rich finally got the payouts' its got nothing to do with 'economy'...hell i think 'economy' isnt real, its just figures for newspapers... hell even worse about Obama is that he's letting the mideasterns to build the mosque over the ground zero! that's how insensitive he is to America! and i dont frickn care if he say or maintain equality, its just an abuse of policy-override of people - and they know it.

Great. We'll have each other on ignore.

I don't have you on ignore. But you can certainly have me on ignore if you wish. After all, it's your right, right? Oooh, wait a min...she can't read mine.

Oh well.

She could only read if someone quote your post while replying your post.

hohdougrn would love you

Neither is raising taxes and spending money the govt doesn't have. That's why it's called "deficit spending." If deficit spending continues then no amount of increased taxation will help that. The first step is to control that spending. That's why I used the analogy of maxing out on credit cards to help pay the bills the stuff you bought earlier. Not gonna work.

That's kind of a really bad analogy. The government doesn't spend on "products" like people buy with credit cards. The government spends on INVESTMENTS. It can have a return by cash back (tax revenues, creating jobs), safety (military), or morale/health (health insurance, social security). It isn't as simple as "Oh I want to buy this $1,000 espresso machine, but I don't have the money now, so I'll just use my credit cards to pay for it."

Sometimes, I hate those "simplified" analogies because they can be SO misleading.
