I don't think I have seen the pilot show of 'Quantum Leap'. Could somebody please fill me in on that? I have read this link:Quantum Leap Episode Guide - Quantum Leap Season Episodes - TV.com but I want to know more. I love 'Quantum Leap' but I know I didn't get to watch all of the shows. I have a very basic cable so I didn't have 'Quantum Leap' until recently (3 lousy shows a week - I wanna 5 shows). I know that it can be found on Sci Fi channel but I don't have that channel. (Boo hoo!)

I have seen the leading part of the program showing the character Sam leaping into the past for the first time. I also saw what looks like a older man's profile (Al?) leaping(?). Could someone tell me more on that part?

Sam always (most of time) says 'Oh boy!'. Once he said 'Oy vey, I am a rabbi' and that is when I realized that 'Oy Vey' sounds pretty to 'Oh boy'. I had to laugh at that.

Feel free to talk about any part of 'Quantum Leap' in here. :D

Quantum Leap is about a couple guys who "travel" through time to fix what was once wrong... to right.

They don't actually travel through time directly, but indirectly... replacing other people with himself.

It started in 1999 when Sam went through a quantum accelerator that sent him into the past. However, it's only in the past... within his own lifetime. Since Sam was born on August 8, 1953... he will leap anywhere in time between August 8, 1953 and the present (1999).

He will leap in place of another person, while that person will replace him in the present. However, the physical appearance will not be replaced for the person Sam leaps into. For instance, Sam leaps in place of a guy named Bob. Everyone else will see Bob. Only Sam can see himself as Sam, but a reflection (in a mirror) will show Bob. (There are several exceptions... children, animals, crazy people, etc... who can see Sam, not Bob.)

Al is another guy who can only appear as a hologram. His purpose is to provide moral support as well as providing critical information to help Sam complete his mission before leaping again. Again, the viewing concept is the same. Only Sam can see Al, while other people can't. (Same exception with children, animals, etc.)

You can get the whole series on DVD... 5 seasons. I plan on getting the whole series when the price drops to $20 each. :)

I saw the DVD at a certain website and it said that it is not closed-captioned. Better check to make sure it is close captioned before you buy it.

I saw the last season and maybe the fourth season. I know what Sam had to do in order to leap. I remember seeing the part where a young girl who can see him for what he really is and Al, too. Al also had a handheld computer(?) which looked different in the later seasons. Once Sam did leaped to the time before his birth date, it is in Al's lifetime instead of Sam's lifetime for some reason.

I remember the one where Sam leaped into Dr. Ruth. I remember Sam leaping into a woman who was pregnant. I don't remember seeing him leaping into another woman (I read the episode listings). I don't remember the one where he leaped into a priest. Not even the one about Lee Harvey Oswald. I do remember the final one where he leaped into void. Just stars. Boy, I do feel depressed then. I just don't remember why he didn't leap back home to his time.

This show was one of my favourite. I would like to watch it again, because I know I have missed a lot of episodes.

best show ever. seriously. ever!

You got that right.

As for the DVDs, Amazon says that seasons 2 to 5 are subtitled in English. According to Best Buy, season 1 is subtitled in English. You're probably better off going to your local Best Buy store and check the casing yourself. :)

I loved Quantum Leap! (And also its cousin, 'Sliders') I was a student at Gally at the time, and as a result, I missed a lot of episodes. Season 2 is currently on my Netflix queue!

Actually, Ziggy is a supercomputer that the handheld device communicates with. ;)

There was another interesting episode... where Sam leaped into a guy in a mental asylum. Just as Sam leaped into that guy, he was given shock treatment rattling up his brain and gave him multiple personalities... of all of those he leaped into before.

The next episode was the episode I mentioned before this... where Sam and Al switch places. ;)

Either Amazon or Best Buy have their information wrong... not because of the different versions of the DVD.

I've talked with both Best Buy and Amazon before. They both admit that they do have flaws in describing their DVD specs and do sometimes get the information wrong.

This happened when Amazon said that Hercules: Season 1 was subtitled. (It was never subtitled.) I contacted them and they said that it was an accident.

This also happened when Best Buy said that Hercules: Season 1 was captioned. (It was never captioned, only the other seasons were.) My friend bought the DVD and watched it. He returned it. They had to give him a refund since they "falsely advertised" that it was captioned online... another accident on their part.

I guess our best chance would be to go to the store in person and check.

I think I have a friend who owns all of Quantum Leap on DVD. I'll check with him. :)

I used to love watching Quantum Leap.

For some reason, This episode to this day still sticks to me. I don't recall which season it was on but anyway, It was showing Sam leaping into a guy who is a police officer of a small town and his wife was in a mental asylum. He had to raise his daughter by himself and in the next segment, Sam leaped into the body of the daughter's boyfriend. As a result, the house got caught on fire and he had to save the daughter from the fire.

I still watch the re-runs from time to time on Sci-Fi channel.

Oh, it was 3 episodes long...

I remember that one too. He leaps into a father of a girl who's a supposed murderer. He then leaps into the fiance of that girl (now grown up) who is still a supposed murderer. He finally leaps into the lawyer hired by that girl (grown up with her own daughter) still a supposed murderer. It's like a life-long curse that people thing she's a murderer... but is she? ;)

Yes, That is the one I was talking about. The people also thinks that it was passed down from the mother to the daughter being a curse. Although, It was good but long, ha.
