Sexual Assault Suspect
The Saskatoon Police Service is advising women in the City to be cautious when walking alone. Investigators have associated an unknown suspect to two sexual assaults and are investigating the possibility the same suspect is responsible for a third sexual assault. The suspect is described as a male of Aboriginal descent, between 18 and 25 years of age, 5'10", with two noticeable skin blemishes on his left cheek.
The assaults have occurred over the last five months and each involves a female being approached by an unknown male while walking alone. In each of the attacks the male has attempted to engage the women in conversation and then has violently assaulted them. The first attack occurred in December of last year in the Riversdale neighborhood at 12:30 in the afternoon. Then, in February, a woman was assaulted under similar circumstances in the downtown area at 9:30 p.m. The third attack occurred at the beginning of May at 12:30 a.m. The victim was walking along a busy street in the Mayfair area. The suspect was scared off in this incident when a car approached.
Recently Investigators have been able to link the first two assaults through evidence and believe the third is similar in nature. They believe the suspect may continue to target women walking alone. Women are asked to use common sense and avoid putting themselves at risk.
Police do not believe a reported attack on a female jogger on the riverbank over the weekend is connected to these sexual assaults.
The Saskatoon Police Service is asking for the public's assistance. Composite drawings of the suspect are attached. If you have any information that may be useful to police in these investigations please contact S/Sgt. Elias at 975-1410.
