Politically incorrect thread.

But an open toilet looks a lot worse than a closed one.

An open toilet can also attract thirsty cats and dogs, and be a catch basin for anything that gets dropped or knocked over in the bathroom.

When a toilet isn't in use, it should be closed.

We have slow-closing lids on our toilets, so it makes it even easier. Just a light tap on the lids, and they slowly close without effort. :)

When you say closed you mean both seat and lid correct?

:) I have to agree it does look way neater and keeps pets drinking out of proper dishes.... But having 5 kids I settle for a clean toilet and a bathroom door shut lol

I prefer to close the seat unless if I have to close the lid because of the animals like dog and cat.

Here, I am alone in my cottage and I just leave the lid up and the seat down. If a man come to visit me and want to use the bathroom, then he would have to put the seat down after he had done with the peeing. That would be respectful and courteous.

Even husband would do that for his wife. My husband learned to put the seat down after he was done every time. That is the way to do this for women. He loved me very much. :)

I believe if a man visits a woman's house they yes he replaces the lids as they were...if a woman visits a mans house again seats get replaced as they were....if it is a man and woman living together....I find it respectful if the seats are lowered... But oddly do not find it disrespectful if they are not.... Guess I am weird lol
