What?

Republican Party has moved to more right since 1976 and Democratic Party didn't move to more left until 80's or 90's.
No. The Dems were becoming more liberal long before that (they called it being "progressive"). They were definitely liberal in the 60's.

What about southern democrats? They are most conservative part in Democratic Party.

It's all relative. A "conservative" Democrat is still politically liberal.

It doesn't looks liberal to me but just DINO.

In past, there were some liberal climate in Republican Party.

Do you think that being liberal is bad thing?

Even, Democratic Party wasn't friendly to GLBT rights until 1980's-1990's.

I don't believe I said that.

Of course, "the middle" is prone to change also. It's a nebulous designation in the political realm.

Oh, so you were just making a joke when you said the Dems had a head start. You didn't really mean it.

Because they supported civil rights and social programs?

There are handful of republicans supported civil rights, however they are originally against welfare programs for many years.

A very small handful. The Civil Rights laws and the social programs have all happened because of Democratic push.

You are disagree against your belief.

I means "handful" as "plenty".

It is disgusting to see you to put me and Waterboy in same position so she said "small handful" and I said "handful", just other word for plenty while Waterboy said other word for minority.
"Handful" means a few or small number of a quantity. A small handful is less than a handful but a handful is also a small amount.

I think this was a misunderstanding of definitions.

It's probably better to stick to actual numbers or specific measurable terms such as minority and majority. Less chance for misunderstanding.

Let me to fix the misunderstood:
There are majority of republicans supported civil rights, however they are originally against welfare programs for many years.

I don't understand why some members continue to reply to banned member's post. It is embarrassing me when someone combined me with Waterboy so it make me looks bad.

Thx for clarifying...... :ty:

I don't think he meant to combine you two as similar posters. I think he meant to combine your similarly worded topics, and reply to both with one post.

You don't look bad to me, especially since you explained your meaning.

We all get misunderstood at times. :)

Most people don't know this but in1863 a statue was placed on top of the U.S. Capitol. One of the many people watching the event was a former slave named Philip Reid who helped made it possible for the statue to take place. He had been a slave until freed by the Republican Party's DC Emancipation Act the year before.
