Polio threatens US

I thought that almost gone in westen world.......poli syndrome worth looking into if feeling permently tired

It is nearly gone in the Western "world". Pakistan and Afghanistan could be considered part of or near the Middle East (Eastern culture) so are not part of "Western culture"- I'm not sure on Nigeria (Africa) though. A little surprised that the polio rate is not higher in some of the poorer regions of Africa though.

both Pakistan and Afghanistan are part of Asian continent.

There are polio cases in Africa - mostly west and a couple in east. I'm not surprised that it's not an epidemic case because aid organizations do go around villages and vaccinate children.

There have been some really big outbreaks of whooping cough and measles in the US because of non-vaccination. Most of the big measles outbreaks have been in the same community of non-vaxers. Nearly all of the people who don't vaccinate are educated middle class white people. Some very expensive private schools have vax rates as low as 20%, according to this article. http://www.slate.com/blogs/xx_facto...ccinating_your_child_a_new_status_symbol.html

You also have the non-vaccination done by fundamentalist Christians, and outbreaks are centered around their church. This is the church when the outbreak started: http://www.npr.org/2013/09/01/217746942/texas-megachurch-at-center-of-measles-outbreak And this is shortly later after they realized how stupid they were http://www.healthline.com/health-news/children-texas-megachurch-measles-vaccination-082613

I see that the church members brought back the disease from their trip to Indonesia.

The article also mentioned that there are hundreds of people who can't get vaccinated for medical reasons.

I remember when I was undergoing prednisone treatments for several years that I wasn't allowed to get any vaccinations.

I never got the measles vaccination because as a child I already had measles before the vaccine was available. I imagine there are thousands (millions?) of people my age in the same situation.
