VamPyroX, In response the cardiac arrest post, I wasn't implying that they cause that. My point was being if they were dangerous and would cause that on somebody the size of a small child, then you are doing more damage then good. If they are safe on a child that size, and it is a viable option for the situation, then use it. You just need to weigh the benefit vs the risk. In that case, the benefit far outweighs the risk invovled. If they had said the odds are good that a child would go into cardiac arrest (or suffer some other misfortune) then I would be strongly against using it.
Beowulf, Not all agencies require (but most do) their officers to be shot with a tazer before they are certified to use/carry it. Aside from being shot from a gun or hit with a baton, most officers are required to be victims of the weapons they use, whether its tazer, mace, pepper spray, tear gas, etc. If you want to be certified in the use of pepper spray, chances are you will be hosed down during your training. It isn't fun, I can promise you that.
In reference to your other comments, tazers should be used at close range, but close range doesn't mean in touch distance of that person. Tazers can be used up to 15 ft (some models may go further).
As for your comment about the doping of Americas kids, I agree with you 100%. I think a thread regarding that would be quite intersting.
Vampyrox, You bring up an excellent point and I think this is what is wrong with our kids today. Many parents look at schools as babysitters when they need to be more involved in their kids lives. It can be difficult to do that as the times have changed and we are more busier than ever, and many parents are working multiple jobs. Seems today, many parents spoil their kids to their own detriment. For example, there was another thread about the girl doing cartwheels in the cafeteria. Her father was ticked that she was suspended but had nothing to say in regards that her child was told repeatedly. IMO, he should have stepped up to the plate before it came to a suspension.
