In my opinion, its not bad owner, its more like uneducated owners.
Uneducated owners are bad owners.

I have met many sweetheart pitbull, but you guys need to stop being close minded toward to dog's hardwired behavior seriously.
I suggest that you guys need to stop being close-minded thinking about breed's stereotypical characteristics. ALL dogs are SAME in terms of behaviors. ALL dogs need 3 simple things as Cesar Millan said - Exercise and Discipline and Affection..... in those exact order.
Close-minded??
I hear the every same words "every breeds attacks they all have the same terms of behaviors" You all are missing the point on how many dog cases of attacks world wide? You let this falls on deaf ears. People like you who would take such a risk and ignore all the facts could care less about children. Protecting pitbulls that cause so much damaged on children's even had to pay a price by being ripped to shreds from pitbulls. Yet, you're standing here protecting pitbulls? What about those poor children? Those dogs are walking time bombs, weather you want to believe it or not, because I do. They have solid muscles would take chunks out of children. I think some people here can be so insane for protecting those pitbulls after numberic of cases of attacked they're done with the reputation of being deadly, one case after the next after the next. I remembered the story about the 22 months old baby who was killed by four pitbulls, If you think about it, I would not have a problem leaving a 1-year-old with four kittens, because kittens do not rip a child's throat the way four pitbulls would.
I said pretty much all I wanted to say, I'm not coming back and keep debating about pitbulls to prove my point.
Jillio an Jiro:
I actually think you're both right! In some cases, it is the breed and in others, it's the owners. Any animal is capable of becoming predatory; especially dogs. It doesn't matter if it's a pitbull or a cute little yorkie. Ofc, a person has more to fear from the pitbull. I also think that people have bred pit bulls to be even more predatory. You take an already aggressive animal and train it to kill, and you've got serious issues with that animal.
yes... true.... sadly true.... it's mainly the size and look that intimidate the people.... and sadly the pitbull depicts that exact image. However - there are several other breeds that are a bigger, "meanie-looking" one such as Rottweiler, German Shepherd, and Doberman. Those breeds are lot bigger than Pitbulls. I blame the media for blowing this out of proportion. They pulled same crap for sharks which led to decline of shark population.
I see your point. And, here's a case for the "blame the owner" theory. My sister and brother-in-law own a rottie. The dog was frightening to me at first. I sit in the wheelchair a good bit of the time, so ANY dog that jumps up on me WILL scare me. Anyway, they told me I had nothing to fear from the dog. I gave my sister a "Yeah, sure. Right..." look, but it turned out to be true. They had their rottweiler trained by an expert and this dog is the sweetest I have ever come across. He's very well behaved and obeys commands. They also had the dog neutered, which I'm sure helped to make him less aggressive. I won't ever let my gaurd down completely, but I can honestly say they've done right by this particular dog.

That's why I wear my cup all the time.
exactly. ALWAYS keep your guard up at all time! No matter how cute and well-behaved he is. That's PRECISELY why the kids get bitten. It's like this - a responsible gun owner ALWAYS ALWAYS assume the gun is LOADED even though it has NO bullet and NO magazine and double-checked. But no... ALWAYS treat it as loaded gun at ALL time. Same principle applies for ANY animals and even people. I don't mean to say be paranoid all the time but just be smart and responsible!
