Did Sarah Palin leave Hawaii because there were too many Asians? In the New Yorker review of "Going Rogue," Sam Tanenhaus writes that Palin's father suggested as much to the reporters who wrote "Sarah From Alaska." The account contradicts the former Alaska governor's own description of her reasons for leaving college in Hawaii after only one semester.

Palin, though notoriously ill-traveled outside the United States, did journey far to the first of the four colleges she attended, in Hawaii. She and a friend who went with her lasted only one semester. "Hawaii was a little too perfect," Palin writes. "Perpetual sunshine isn't necessarily conducive to serious academics for eighteen-year-old Alaska girls." Perhaps not. But Palin's father, Chuck Heath, gave a different account to Conroy and Walshe. According to him, the presence of so many Asians and Pacific Islanders made her uncomfortable: "They were a minority type thing and it wasn't glamorous, so she came home." In any case, Palin reports that she much preferred her last stop, the University of Idaho, "because it was much like Alaska yet still 'Outside.' "

:hmm:

Boy, they sure do try hard.

*sniff* *sniff*

I smell fear.

is she afraid of Asians???

I smell nothing. This is a written format.

However I perceive racism. And I don't care for it.

this is comical -

whenever we post anything bad about Palin - we're being accused of having fear
whenever he posts anything bad about Obama - we're being accused of being unpatriotic socialist citizens

:dunno:

Like I said, they'll try anything to discredit her based on what?

Again, they fear her and I wonder why they go to such lengths and effort to do these things.

lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol and anything you say about Obama is facts even though I've provided AMPLE amount of source that disproved your accusation?

You think they're trying hard or they're just reporting what her father said?

I believe him.

And to be frank, I totally understand her. I am not comfortable around people like you. ;)

I smell humongous fear from someone over Obama.....141 post worth of fear.
then try and reverse it over some dumbass barbie doll.
silly rabbit

Wow,
She says they make her feel uncomfortable so she is a racist? You mean to tell me that everyone else doesn't feel the same way? Your 18 years old and you attend a school in, oh, lets just use Suadi Arabia or China as an example. You would feel right at home in a school filled with arabs right? Some peaple are just too judgemental.
I expected this least of all from anyone here on this forum. Had she said she didn't like asian people, then she would be on her own-she was also 18 at the time and it probable was her first time away from home. Stop being so quick to judge other people, worry about yourself.

Look who's talking.

um she's 45 years old, not 18.

Hawaii is homogeneously Asian? Last time I checked... it's only a third of the islands' population. She probably feel more insecure with the multiracial mix of Asians, Hispanic, non-Hispanic Americans and so on.

I guess it's a good thing she's not running for President or Vice President since Washington, DC is 31% white... 57% black.

Think she will flee Iowa once you roll into town, Jiro?

When I was going to school in DC, it was 70% black.

so was she so afraid that she avoided college too? I would think there would be diversity of people at her college.

What about Alaska, do they have Indians and Eskimos? I don't want to sound bad but I just don't think she surround herself with white people.

She certainly didn't avoid visiting other countries.

Even when I was up in the Northwest Territories, the natives made up a very small visual portion of the population. According to Google, 75% of the population are white in Alaska, 5% are black, 5% are Asian... the rest are natives.
