Online Poker

Ahhh...the over confidence and mistaken conclusions of the ill informed and unexperienced. Touching.

Nice knowing that the mirror is very clear..

Deja vu, people, deja vu. Compare some of the posts here with the posts by a recently banned member. Striking similarities.:cool2:

um.... the reason why online poker sites are not in USA is because it's ILLEGAL.... hence we've been telling you that online poker is illegal in USA.

We've never said PLAYING online poker is illegal.
i agree you!

my father is poker illegal I am avoid I give you trouble!

I against to poker because reason law is otherwise obey!

and I've been harping about playing online poker.... hmm? you guys the one who going off the point.

Moonshine is illegal because it have no license to pay tax. Therefore, poker is outside of US and doesn't pay the tax to here. Therefore, there is nothing we can do.

There is casino just a hour away from my home. I love to face in real people to look at their face if they're real or a bluffer.

75% of the USA citizens and non citizens do things that are illegal...(underage drinking, driving w/ supspended license, spitting on the sidewalk, urinating in public, ect..) I like to play poker I do not gamble online because of stolen credit card numbers in the past but I will play real poker I am not good at it

It is amazing to me that people actually get into this because of how easy it is for a software program to cheat people. Even the government is getting in on the game with, "lottery" video poker in casino's. To be fair(under the right conditions), you can get over 100% at video poker with the right machine. However, with online poker there is no way to tell that you are playing a fair game. Here is an example, these guys got lucky:

Just a thought...

Wouldn't it be great if they could tax online poker and let that bulk of the taxes go to education? Just imagine...we'd have MONEY for schools! Quality education for all. If the US was smart, they would capitalize and reap the benefits of legalizing (and regulating) marijuana and poker. We'd never have to worry about budget cuts in education again.

They aren't.

they are.

Theres a reason a "pro" hasn't won the WSOP main event since 2000. At least when youre talking tournaments. The only exception is probaly Phil Ivey who is just a beast.

If you were smart and had money to bet, you would put money down on a pocket fives top 10 player than a has-been pro who cant seem to adjust to the nature of which a No-Limit Texas hold em tournament is conducted these days. Fact.

And allow me to say if I were to bring a laptop into a police station in Hoboken, New Jersey, opened it up and started playing 5/10 pot limit omaha with real dollars and cents being wagered, I wouldnt be arrested. If I did the same thing in Seattle, Washington I would be as I think its the only state (even though I saw illinois as well in this thread) that has a law in place physically stating participation is a crime. However, if I was to start a poker site next door with payment processing and the whole 9 yards, I would be shut down. If I were to run a bank that allowed transactions through the bank to fund a bankroll, to pay players back in an american bank account--the bank I'm running would be reprimanded and/or shut down as well. The law is warped on this but I dont see Tom Dwan aka "Durrrrrrr" with his 10 million dollar bankroll in a orange jumpsuit anytime soon because he earned every penny through the poker sites.

If you're judging by the main event winnings..... i'll toss a name out for you to think about.. Helmuth, for his 2011 wsop run...

and for someone who supposedly plays poker, I would expect you to also include the odds of 6000+ people vs what, 30 household named pros?.. Of course, it's a feat for a famed pro just to make it to the final table.

I highly doubt the money would get any where near an educational institution. The people who collect taxes aren't much better than the ones who make ponzi schemes. If you don't believe me, just ask yourself were all the money from the state lottery goes? Not only does the state make money off the lottery and give the worst odds of winning it also has the gall to take half the winnings of the winner back in taxes. This makes criminals look like upstanding people because even criminals don't take half your winnings back.

Hellmuth is terrible, imo. I wouldnt give that dickhead an ounce of respect in the poker world. Obviously poker is poker but the ones with the internet backgrounds are the ones who've been tearing it up the last 5 years. In the debate of skill vs luck, skill ought to win 90% of the time, its just that some people have figured out that you dont have to wait for aces and kings to drag a huge pot now and most of those were born and bred from the 'net.

You could be a high stakes guy with your little 25/50$ no limit credentials but from what it sounds like, gathering poker information from you is the same as taking sex education as a credentialed whore as your teacher.

I dont like Helmuth personally, but hey. His records speak for himself. No matter how his personality is.

That coupled with other live pros with their runs this year kinda makes your claim doubtful in my opinion.

Now if you were going to swear by the online players, why have matusow in your signature as a god.... ha.

Didn't realize this thread got revived..
Even Hellmuth plays online and was sponsored by a site. However, Hellmuth isn't deserving of his reputation despite his "records". Variance can hit anyone in the face repeatedly especially if Hellmuth got most of his wins in a time where tournaments were mostly 100-200 players..

All of the pros supposedly play online, ferguson, ivey, brunson, matusow, greenstein, etc etc etc....

If you're gonna judge by wins and that alone... Fine by me. I just simply disagree.

I didn't judge by wins alone.. I am saying his wins means nothing which means I'm judging based on his play... Pros do make mistakes from time to time but Hellmuth makes tons of basic fundamental mistakes... a lot of pros consider Hellmuth a cash game fish..

all in no limit hold 'em no less. The guy is a terrible cash game/mixed games player and really his only value is for entertainment purposes when he gets owned and throws a fit comparable to a 5 year old.
