okay ad'ers. ask me anything (but be nice! :))

dumb question but I suppose you don't turn on any light at home unless you have sighted guests?

that's not a dumb question at all. i always turn the lights on at home for my guide dog, but if it weren't for her, i wouldn't keep them on.

as far as guests are concerned, sometimes it's not unusual for me to keep lights on for days because my family and friends forget to turn them off (and i forget to check the light switches myself!).

Speaking of lights, you can not see at all, like pitch black, right?

since i was born totally blind, i don't know what black means. i don't see anything at all -- no colors, shapes, detail, faces or objects.

having said that, i've heard of some totally blind people who see black, yellow, gray or white. some blind people even see various shades that blend into all of these colors.

since i've never seen colors before, i don't know what they mean.

black is a color but when you can't see, its like 'pitch black' but dont worry, just out of my curioisuty.

how was your childhood life? for ie - were your parents/siblings very supportive to your needs? if you like - please do briefly describe about it.

Do you get so manic you could shit? :D

damn straight i do! :giggle:

in fact, i've been so batsh*t manic for the past several weeks that i needed a complete overhaul on my bipolar meds.

i'm not ashamed to say that sometimes i get so manic i experience auditory hallucinations. it's all a part of the illness.

i'm female -- although 95% of ad'ers think i'm male.

i'm not married at the moment, but i do have a wonderful sighted-hearing boyfriend whom i've been dating for the past 2 years. :D we're thinking about getting married sometime next year after i graduate with my bachelor's degree in social work.

i don't have any children right now. however, that's definitely part of my future plans. i hope to have 2 children -- one through natural childbirth and the other through an adoption (i'd like to adopt a deafblind, blind or deaf child).

I thought you were a male too until I saw your avatar, I'm thinking Hear Again must be a "she" :giggle:

Thanks for answering my questions. ;)

I understand, some blind people can see a bit of colors but it is hard for me to describe becuase I don't know much about the community of the blind, unfortunately.

well, i don't know what pitch black means, so i can't describe what it is that i actually see. i suppose you could say that it's pitch black because what i do see is very, very dark.

Here again, its really fasinating reading the questions asked by Jake and your replies regarding deaf/blind person. Have you been deaf/blind since birth? Did you go to a regular school or deaf/blind school? I read your currently in school studying social work, what made you want to study this field? I forgot to add, that your not the only member to mistaken to be guy , as I have been mistaken to be one also by other members. I guess its bec I am rabid NE Patriots football fan. I can only cheer for them and keep on adding pix on my signture and avatar hehe my current avatar is manga world its all girl bec I am one :giggle:

hhmmmm......... how do you dream? I mean what's it like? for ie - I dream in visual sense.

that's a good question. i dream in a tactile and olfactory sense.

for example, i experience my dreams through texture, vibration, touch and smell. when i communicate with sighted-hearing people in my dreams, we use tactile sign.

of course, now that i have ci's, my dreams have become more oral based. more and more often, i'm starting to communicate with sighted-hearing people by listening.

sometimes in my dreams i "float" from place to place or am using either my guide dog tigger or white cane.

:hmm: Should I be afraid of your 52" pole? :-o

yes. be afraid. be *very* afraid! :laugh2: when i'm manic, i can use my white cane as a wmd.

my guide dog tigger bites too. just a word of warning. :giggle:

oh and if you should ever see mrs. bucket and i together with our 52" white canes, watch out!
