What would the cop have done if she resisted? Really, man, cops are not to mete out consequences as much as this irresponsible dog owner deserved it..Where does one draw the line?

But making her sit iN her hot car wouldnt be arrest. if he was arresting her then.srrest her...

Well...seems she knew that by sitting in the hot car for a few minutes would be much better than sitting in a jail cell...having to bail out...going to Court...missing work, having to pay a fine..... even having the dog taken away from her......of course, she didn't resist...She got off pretty easy...humiliated, yes, but she deserved it all.

So kudos to this Cop!

A humilating favor it is...she was handcuffed, given a lecture...people looking at her....embarrassing it was!....Feel she won't do this again.

That is not the job of police.
She is presumed innocent, the police sre noT their to punish. Thsts what coirts are for.
There is A very good reason why that is.

She is presumed innocent, the police are noT their to punish. Thats what courts are for.

That's BS....it was her car...her dog...many Cops do people favors by giving them a "Warning" and a tongue-lashing for traffic offenses....and believe me, they are thankful. Tickets are very expensive these days.....
Perhaps somebody needs to tie ur hands and make you sit in a hot car while they go shopping...with the windows up. You'd be thankful somebody got you out of there....and when that friend came back from shopping...:giggle:...knowing you would probably punch them in the mouth.

In most (if not all) states, awful as it seems to us, a person keeping an animal in a hot car is most likely not going to be arrested, taken into custody and thrown in the slammer unless they give the officer a hard time or make threats.

If it's even against the law in a particular state, at most it's a misdemeanor punishable by a fine. The cop wasn't going to arrest the woman and take her into custody. She wasn't going to end up in jail for the dog.

Warning someone snd cuffing them and humiilating them are different things.
the cops job is not to punish...
What is it about that you dont understsand
If this person did a crime then arrest her. If not then dont.
Its that simple

so you prefer that she get arrested and criminally charged.. and losing her job in process and etc?

being charged for animal cruelty is pretty serious. officer knows this. imagine what any employer would react once he/she sees that you were charged with animal cruelty.

It's a misdemeanor in some states; in other states, not even that.

The officer probably didn't arrest the driver because it wasn't an offense that merited an arrest.

It would help if we had all the facts of what happened. We don't know what the officer said to the driver, or how long she was kept in the car.

I was saying if the woman was arrested the dog would end up in a no kill shelter , people were saying the cop should had arrested the woman
I am disagreeing with people about the woman should had been arrested .
I had someone call the police b/c there was dog in a hot car , a police came and she was about to go into Market Basket to have the store pages the owner of the car and she came out of the store . The police gave the dog owner a warning and was told she would be fined if she did this again.
My ex husband son was reported for abusing his dog out in pubic. He threw the dog into his car , the dog was taken away from him and the guy had to go
to anger management class and pay a fine too. He got the dog back and I was very upset b/c the owner still had anger issues.
