Odd/Funny Names

something i can't stand is when parents spell their child's name unconventionally. what's wrong with spelling their name the standard way?

i'm not kidding about this, but in milwaukee, there was a convict by the name of james a. hole.
 
My old audiologist's name is Malcolm Light. But he was known as Bud by everyone, even his professors. So ALL of his diplomas on the wall in his office say Bud Light.

And the funny part is.. since Ive known him for so long (20+ years!), when I heard about the beer, I thought "Oh my god they named it after him!"

Most of German last names are odd... I hold laugh to myself when someone introduce their names to me... Few years later I translate German into English to them... They were like :o: and then :laugh2:

Add to that list - Edward Van Halen's son - who is their current bassist and newest addition to the dysfunctional family that is "Van Haln" - his name is

Wolfgang aka "Wolfie" Van Halen. With a name like Van Halen - it has to be good... ;)
 
I think I prefer weird names for celebrities over the common. Think about it... what if Will and Jada named their son John?

John Smith...... yawn.
 
Odd names ; not funny, but I had to share. I have known some people from different Pacific Islander cultures. They have some of the most beautiful names

two of my students (preschool)

from Hawaii
KiPono and KaiNami. Their dad's name was Kai.

Someone close to me over the years from Samoa:

Atapana. His brother's name was Elvin. Pana's mom's name was Loimata which in their language means "tear" and the story was Loi's mother cried when the young man she has been involved with was shipped back to Germany (military) - leaving her with a child. Pana ended up being both German and Samoan.

Every name in the culture has a story behind it. It's amazing. I LOVE the Pacific Island Cultures that I have had the chance to get to know.

I have some ancestors whose last names were Blizzard from my dad's side.
 
I only know 2, one teacher named Mr. Allnutt (it fit cuz he is little nutty lol one time I wondered if he'd do it by asking him I "forgot" what the song the cowardly lion in wizard of oz sang and he look like someone that'd know and he actually sang it! Front of whole class LOL)
And one girl at school name was Shay Dandi Blue (full name)
 
I came across another odd but yet a funny name.

As I was working on an application earlier today at work - The doctor's name was listed on it and take a guess - The name is Dr. John Gigolo. :eek3:

Can you imagine having a doctor with that name? :lol:
 
I knew of a girl back in high school named Betty Humpser (Sounds like Bet He Humps Her)!
 
I read something in MSN few weeks ago about a parents named their son after Hitler. I feel bad for this child.

What a sad name to call a son Adolf Hitler? His siblings name are JoyceLynn Aryan Nation Campbell and Honszlynn Hinler Jeannie Campbell (named after SS head Heinrich Himmler). When they grow up, I shudder to think how they feel about their name. Poor them prolly get tease all the time everywhere. :(
