Obama burns!

as usual - kokonut's thread = BUSTED!

kokonut - it doesn't hurt to open your mind and be multi-cultural. If you were open-minded.. you should know that fire represents life in Asia whereas it represents hatred in America. I'm still offended by your continuing disrespectful comment about bowing = an act of subservience.

It's a statue, sallylou. And it is considered as art to do this. There's a meaning behind the reason for the burning according to the Chinese artist.

:cool2:

Ya'll got a little hot under the collar with this, eh?

nice try but.... you just got BUSTED AGAIN!

Ha, reminded me of the anti Bush campaign called pants on fire. They pulled his effigy complete with flaming pants across the country. It was great. Some wagons had a marquee with his lie of the day. Oh, man, funny. There were also dolls with flamimg (fabric print) pants.

I would never post this to tick you off. I wont provide links either.

Some folks thinks burning the president is about as funny as burning the flag. Hmph.

Well, we now have a flaming Obama statue.

I had respect for Bush even though I didn't often agree on everything he did before Iraq and Katrina. I don't envy Obama the job he has taken on.

Katrina was more of a state issue. Federal gov't can't do much without usurping the state but there are other ways to help.

Obama couldn't do much when one of the state had a major flooding and people were trapped as well.

as they should do the same. They should know that in America, burning is offensive.

Like burning flags and such.

LH77, burning per se is not offensive but what is burned and under what context and reason for the burning. As for the Chinese artist it was apparent, if anyone bothered to look into it, would understand that it wasn't meant on his part as an offensive act but people here in the U.S. would most likely howl over it not understanding the context and reason behind the burning. Like I said, people certainly got hot under their collars on this one.

Exactly. It didn't take place on American soil. So, it's a cultural perspective we're seeing.

but Obama is a America symbol, so in a way, it is like burning a American flag overseas. People wouldn't not understand it.

ah... a progress! our hard effort has come to fruition!

Not quite the same thing as burning the U.S. flag but I get what you are saying. No one president can ever replace the symbolism of what the U.S. flag represents. The U.S. flag symbolizes the men and women who died for our freedom and liberty, and the effort to ensure our independence.
