Bush has done plenty of illegal shit and I don't see you calling him out on it.

It's probably because he's a Republican.
I thought this thread was about Obama smoking? This isn't a Bush thread.

Reba and Maria, have you ever smoked cigarette regularly like me?

You two obsiviously don't know what's it like to try quit smoking, it's HARD. Please don't pressure on Obama.

I am 7 years smoker and find it very hard for me to quit, evenually I did tried to quit in the past and I get crazy, cause my mom to cry, starting to argue everyone, stuff. I am just hoping that the electronic cigarette can help me because that thing are the only thing that have smoke with very few chemicals..

I used to smoke before. I know what it was like. And, of course, I don't plan to go back as ever, because I like the smell and taste better. When I smoked, I don't smell or taste anythin'.

I want to smell the " real " fragrance and food. Since I quitted smokin' back in 2004, I can smell a driver's smokin' in a car when drive by and even, alcohol or mary jane.

Of course, I don't attempt to press Obama. I don't plan to jump on a plane to fly over to the White House to tell him to quit it. :laugh2: I think it is crazy!!
I just like to discuss right here and share what my feelings/thoughts are. :)

No, I've never been a smoker.

I'm not denying that it's hard to quit; I've seen other people struggle with giving up the coffin nails.

I'm not pressuring Obama to quit smoking. I don't care if he smokes or not. I only pointed out that whichever way he goes, smoking or quitting, he should be honest about it.

I hope for your sake that you can overcome your smoking habit. You are young, so your body can heal. :)

Oh, I understand, alright; Reba was not talking about the difficulty of quitting, either. Re-read....

*sigh* They had been implying that it is okay to quit just right now, it's not that easy.

This is not meant as a put down to you, Puyo. I understand what you're saying. My parents were smokers. Started smoking in their teens and smoked the first 13 yrs of my life. In total, they smoked about 30 yrs? My parents both quit together when I was 13, and they haven't smoked since. Smoking cessation can be achieved. It just takes alot of tries, sometimes. Please don't give up.

Thanks for putting a hope for me :) Yeah my parents was a smokers for many years and quit too..

As for Obama, I honestly don't know what the story is. I googled and I still don't understand what the big deal is about. He smokes. So? According to a source I read, it's been well known since 2004 that he was a smoker. Someone insinuated that he lied about it? I've not seen a source to support that.

Eh. I still stick to my original position. It's much ado about nothing. If people are getting all bent out of shape about this, they need to get a life. It's his lungs. If those around him are affected by his smoking, why don't they get on him about it? It's not our business or our problem. It's his.

Understandable, it's his problem, not ours. I wouldn't take his smoking habit as big deal, neither.

Dont get me wrong..I honestly wish my hubby would quit smoking cuz it is a nasty habit but he has tried and tried...he admits that he likes it too much right now. So, I stopped pressuring him cuz it just made everything harder on both of us...since then, he doesnt smoke as much.

Glad that your husband tried to listen to you and tried to quit :)

I see a good part of the core of teeth-gnashing posters suddenly turning more centrist since Obama won; yet, they just can't get enough of insulting those who didn't vote for him. Reba has, more than enough times, expressed disappointment at what Bush and other elements of our government are evolving into. And she has also said more than once that she is not a Republican.

There's a strange relationship between the insane Bush hatred and irrational Obama exultations. The man hasn't yet been President a day and some of you post as if he will never do anything wrong. Well, sorry to burst your bubble because he will. He's human, remember? What are you gonna do when you see the first poll that makes him look bad? Jump off a cliff? Some of you seem to think he's the closest thing to God and that Bush is the Devil himself.

Sure you people have endured 8 years of self-righteousness but those days are soon about to end, fortunately. After Obama takes over the reins of the Office, maybe more reasoned opinion will prevail on just about anything.

Here you go, Tousi. It is actually quite easy to bring the post forward.:)

Bumping this up because I got stuck near the bottom of the previous page and most won't see it.

Ohh I got your point now, thank you for explain clear.

Thank you for putting a hope for me :)

Sorry, folks; thanks Botti

Puyo, I made you sigh? Awwwwww.....

Dang. I was going to give ole Bush a zinger about smoking over 1.2 million Iraquis but that wouldn't be appropriate, now would it?
:D

Now that I've read several posts by ADers describing how withdrawal from cigarettes effects their personalities and emotions, maybe it would be better for Obama not to quit smoking until he finishes his presidential term.

Hmm, That's something to think about. He probably will end up being a chain smoker cause they seem to smoke when stressed out and I have no doubt he will be stressed out every minute of his time in office.

Especially knowing how stressful the job will be. Probably not a good time to change any habits that have always been relaxing for him regardless the hazard they pose to his health.

Plus I understand there is weight gain during/after quitting. How bad do we want Chubby Checkers in da White House?

Well that's interesting thoughts..

I just wonder if this time, before he get in the office, it's good time for him to practice to quit smoking so that he don't have to have a "smoking break" every hours...

I sure hope not!

He would be outside all the time if he becomes a chain smoker. He would never get anything done in office due to he will not be allowed to smoke indoors.

It is hard to quit and he very well may. Time will only tell.
