O.J. Simpson Found Guilty of Armed Robbery

:laugh2:

I knew one day OJ be caught up with his trouble later, and that day came. :P

Yep!!!! Finally!

*wait and see what happens in the appeal process*

Jillio, I think I know the exact golf course your dad plays at because it's so close to his house, and OJ's. I used to drive on the streets to work, often past the house from my old place few miles away. I really liked that house but it wasn't the same once he bought that place for $675,000. I hear that Christy moved out also. One of my best friends used to date Christy when she wasn't with OJ. Some people I know have had encounters with OJ in Coconut Grove, including in an elevator at the Mayflower Hotel. I've been behind OJ's Black Naviagator soon after his neighborhood eyeglasses fiasco. Ask your dad about that one. He will REMEMBER!!! No one will miss him in the neighborhood for sure.

 Jillo's dad?

About the jury:

Paul Vercammen
CNN Senior Producer

The Clark County Court information office reports, the O.J. Simpson jury is made up of 11 white jurors and one female “hispanic juror of Mexican decent.”

The information was derived from looking at the juror questionnaires, according to court spokesman Michael Sommermeyer.

Reports of the panel being “all white” had been called into question and CNN and other news organizations had been pressing the court to reveal details of the jurors make up from the questionnaires.

The main panel is made up of nine women and three men.

The alternate panel includes a Black male and a Black female.

Reba, do you know if the others who got charged along with OJ are mostly white?

LOL I know EXACTLY what you are talking about with the eyeglasses. Everyone in Miami was pretty much like "Umm... isn't it kinda obvious that OJ is prone to violence...?" Are you talking about that house near 97th ave? (or was it 87th ave?). I didn't know that he changed it. That golf course is the one right on 97th ave!

I am sure the neighborhood kids LOVED to go to his house around Halloween time! "OMG THE HOUSE OF THE BIG BAD SCARY KILLER!"

Thanks, Reba. This could be problematic and drag out for a long time, I suppose.

Flash News! The judge presiding over OJ's case has the highest rate of overturns in the entire state of Florida!!

See what happens when they don't play within the rules? Darn!

Florida? The trial was in Nevada.

JUDGE JACKIE GLASS

District Judge Jackie Glass is reputed to be one of the toughest judges at the Regional Justice Center when it comes to sentencing.

She has been known to impose harsher sentences than the ones recommended by prosecutors and the Division of Parole and Probation, a lawyer said.

But another lawyer said Glass is not pro-prosecution; rather, she is equally hard on both sides to move cases through the system, imposing tougher sentences on only violent offenders.

Glass already has a high-profile case on her hands: the murder case of Craig Titus and Kelly Ryan, two nationally competitive body builders who are charged with killing their live-in personal assistant.

Glass also is the administrator of the Mental Health Court, a specialty court that evaluates defendants' competency to stand trial. In 2005, she sent former NFL kicker Cole Ford, who later pleaded guilty to shooting at the house of illusionists Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn, to a mental institution.

Glass, 51, was elected to the bench in 2002 in a no-holds-barred race in which Glass spent the most of any judicial candidate to oust incumbent Jeff Sobel. Glass had accused Sobel of giving light sentences, and after the election, Sobel said Glass viewed her election "as a mandate for toughness on crime."

She has been married to Las Vegas City Councilman Steve Wolfson, a criminal defense attorney, for about two decades. Before her move to the bench, they ran a family-owned law firm, specializing in criminal cases.

Glass was born in New York. The judge's family moved to Savannah, Ga., when she was in the 11th grade. She graduated from the University of Georgia and moved to Las Vegas, where she worked as a reporter for a couple of radio stations before she began covering crime as a reporter for KTNV-TV, Channel 13.

She later graduated from the University of San Diego Law School and passed the Nevada bar exam before her 1984 graduation.

Lawyer: O.J. Simpson 'Extremely Upset' with Trial Outcome
Lawyer: O.J. Simpson 'Extremely Upset' with Trial Outcome - Crime & Courts, : People.com

O.J. Simpson, found guilty late Friday night of 12 counts related to a September 2007 armed robbery in a Las Vegas casino-hotel room, is "extremely upset, extremely emotional," his attorney said Saturday. "This was expected."

Speaking at a press conference, Yale Galanter said, "It's not so much that we expected to lose. We knew this was going to be very difficult. We knew the jury was going to be very difficult. We knew juror selection was going to be very difficult."

Though Galanter and Simpson's other attorney, Gabrielle Grasso, "tried to weed out as best as we could the people with very fixed opinions" about Simpson from serving on the jury, Galanter said, "I'm not here to tell you we didn't get a fair shake. All I'm saying is there are some significant issues on appeal. Obviously jury selection is going to be one of them."

Asked if he believed the jurors in this case were swayed by Simpson's 1995 acquittal of killing his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, Galanter responded, "Absolutely."

Very Strong Feelings About O.J.
While preferring to avoid the word "payback," Galanter did say of the verdict: "I can tell you that there are very strong feelings about Mr. Simpson, and I urged to judge him fairly, equally and honestly."

The attorney's last words to Simpson before marshals handcuffed and escorted the former gridiron star, 61, out of the courtroom was, "Good luck."

Asked how he thought Simpson would fare in prison, Galanter said, "I don't know. I can't answer that. That's a tough question to answer."

Family of O.J. Simpson's Murdered Wife Speaks Up - Crime & Courts, : People.com

The family of Nicole Brown Simpson, the murdered ex-wife of O.J. Simpson, issued a statement Saturday, a day after the former gridiron star was found guilty of 12 criminal charges related to a Sept. 2007 armed-robbery incident in a Las Vegas casino-hotel room.

"Our family would like to thank everyone across the country for their thoughts and prayers as we work through many mixed emotions," said the Brown family. "Our focus is on the children Sydney and Justin, whom we deeply love and cherish, and ask for the understanding of privacy at this time."

Daughter Sydney, 22, and son Justin, 20, are the children of O.J. and Nicole Simpson, who were married from 1985 to 1992.

In 1995 Simpson, now 61, was acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife and her friend, Ronald Goldman. Later, a civil jury held him liable for the killings in a wrongful-death lawsuit.

O.J. Simpson could be spending the rest of his life in prison.

The one-time football hero has been convicted on a dozen charges related to the armed robbery of two sports memorabilia dealers in a Las Vegas hotel room last year. Simpson and his lawyers argued the incident was not a robbery, but an attempt to reclaim mementos that had been stolen from him.

He'll be sentenced on December 5th. He was taken into custody shortly after the charges were read against him. As spectators left the courtroom, Simpson's sister collapsed and paramedics were called.

The verdict came 13 years to the day after Simpson was cleared of murdering his ex-wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ronald Goldman.

Simpson's attorney says his client's "only hope is the appellate process."

ok Sara... no need to post any more OJ Simpson news.... we get the idea :cool2:
