NTID has a new building in Fall 2006.

I hope that they will change the classrooms. I hate the verticle woods on the wall that makes you 'dizzy.' Do you remember that?

I agreed! I could stop by and check em out. I always pass RIT/NTID when going to work.

verticle woods? you mean vertical instead of horizontal? can you give me example of what you are talking or tell me where you are referring to?

anyway: topview of CSD building connected to DC and LBJ.. cool instead of walking outside in snow.. and tunnel is kinda long way to get to DC but thru CSD must be faster eh.. anyway, I am shocked that the Quad is gone now.. I mean the depressed Quad.. it is all flat.. bummer.. here's picture: http://www.ntid.rit.edu/media/images/csd/img/topview.jpg

and the Quad I was speaking of when I was student there: http://www.ntid.rit.edu/prospective/virtualtour.php then click "Campus Highlights Tour" then go to nbr 6. notice it will be different after CSD is up.. hmm.. I am gonna miss this Quad.. lots of memories there.. eh

Hmm. I mean column woods - in the classroom. It is about four inches apart for each wood on the wall.

It's too bad that they are going to cut down the beautiful trees between DC and the dormitory. These trees are sycamore, and they are the strongest one that last longer than most trees.

oh yeah, thx for reminding me about NTID's new building for next yr. I'm deciding on colleges, NTID/UConn are tough to choose, bc I just found out that there is college football at UConn and Hartford BRS is trying to build deaf program at UConn by 2007.

rjr - I think Dr. Ross works at UCONN. He is deaf. He was a supervisor of Willie Ross School for the Deaf in Massachusetts in the 1970's. I know him when I was a student at the school. He is wonderful guy.

My opinion is that NTID is just alright. It is a 'tech' school and has a "low" level of education. I am sorry to say that. RIT is nice and better education. Usually, it is harder for some deafies to enter RIT because it depends on your reading/writing level that meet RIT's requirement. If RIT accepted you, I suggest you to take a tutor at Building 1. I think that the department is called Reading and Writing (2nd floor). The instructors are very helpful. If you are at NTID, a very few instructors (tutors) are helpful, too.

I remember a deaf woman with a wheel chair studied in printing for six months. She had some problems with the RIT service relating her wheel chair. I don't understand the whole situation. She transferred to a different college.

If you decide to go to RIT/NTID, you should stay (dormitory) Tower B or C which is better because Tower A is the worst fire false alarms - about 100 times per year. Two were real fire at 2 a.m. - someone who threw a cigarette in the trash with junk papers in it. The 2nd fire I don't remember. I recalled that it was my final exam in the same day. Many students included me from Tower A slept on the floor at Tower B and C. That's reality.

I recommend you to ask someone who is deaf(s) and attends at UNCONN so that you would compare the colleges. I am not exact sure that it would allow you to transfer to RIT/NTID, in January or February, if you are not happy at UCONN. You gotta to ask your VR about that. Good luck!

Fair sharing. Yes, NTID is alrighty. Too bad they have to enroll more lowered educated deafies to get more gov't funds. Sure it compromised the qualities for deafies who have the brains. That is FACT, and yes, it is harder to get in RIT. I have no problem going in RIT.

I think that I can be advanced to RIT, because of my high English and reading skills. Plus, I don't have deaf education in high school so I can be challenged in my classes.

Wow sounds cool but I never been to there before.

I know where it is at NTID is in Rochester. I would love to go there to see them. But I lives in the island from Hawaii. That's way too far to there for me.

I think that she did not advocate enough for herself in higher education, and that is why I joined advocacy group and I have leadership skills from CT YLF.

Oh you will love the weather in Rochester. It is such a warm, cool peaceful weather, and a lot of palm trees around the campus in the winter. Plenty of clean fresh air. I don't see any factories at the top of the domitory at night. We don't need to bring thick winter clothes and hats anymore.

I have a deaf friend and he used to live in Hawaii, and I don't know where he is now. I would guess that he might have moved to State of Washington. I recalled his plan - he told me that he was not happy living in Hawaii. I find hard for me to believe it. His name is Juan G. He graduated in 2002.

heh lovely weather? heh.. Rochester has worse winter weather! I survived 3 blizzards and Ice Storms! I moved out of Rochester to West ahhh lot better! I get sick of driving in slushy road...

Oh yeah, need plenty of winter clothes to get thru winter.. RIT don't close if public school close due to extreme weather. eh..

OH by the way, when you sign "Rochester Weather" it will come out like "F*** up Weather"

How dare you and I'm shocked... hee hee hee I felt the same way that we went thru the season. Whew, I'm done! ;)

I think that you are right about it.

Thank God. I'm done w RIT.... I don't think I would wanna go back and visit the campus.

Sorry this is little bit off subject. Do you ever remember seeing smoking out of several factories at night when you were in the "studio" dormitory Tower A - the big window? Isn't that awful air pollution?

Other construction at RIT

They didn't start the student development center yet. I saw pictures of the inside of the commons and it looks totally different now. They are remodeling the lobby of Grace Waston. Now there are some brick walls by the doors. Now they are expanding the microelectronics building on the northwest side and that includes a bridge to the computer science building. That bridge will make it possible to go from the library to building 78, where the industrial engineering people are, without going outside. They are building a biosciences building near the imaging science building. They will expand the engineering building on the north side, building onto the road loop.
