North Korea threatens U.S.with Nuclear war
Monday, July 3, 2006; Posted: 11:03 a.m. EDT (15:03 GMT)
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- North Korea would respond to a pre-emptive U.S. military attack with an "annihilating strike and a nuclear war," the state-run media said Monday, heightening anti-U.S. rhetoric amid close scrutiny of its missile program.

The Korean Central News Agency, citing an unidentified Rodong Sinmun newspaper "analyst," accused the United States of increasing military pressure on the isolated communist state and basing new spy planes on the Korean Peninsula.

The North Korean threat of retaliation, which is often voiced by its state-controlled media, comes amid U.S. official reports that Pyongyang has shown signs of preparing for a test of a long-range missile. North Korea claims it has the right to such a launch.

On Friday, Pyongyang accused the United States of driving the situation on the Korean Peninsula "to the brink of war," and said it is fully prepared to counter any U.S. aggression.

N. Korea warns of nuclear war if attacked

I Think bush should now ACT!! I mean Let Kim Jung II make the first move. Lets put a Naval Blockade around North Korea and dont allow any ship deliver OIL,FOOD,MEDICINE Or ANY GOODS to North Korea. And when those people have No Oil ,No Energy,No Medicene people will get very hungry and very sick and might overthrow Kim Jung. And Mean while US Navy will make ships turn back or if they go though the blockade we will Fire and Sink the ship EVEN ITS GREENPEACE!! And US NAVY Has Nuclear Subs when Kim Jung fires nukes we can NUKE NORTH KOREA and Wipe off the face of the earth!

One thing I find amusing (and scary) about this whole thing is North Korea's "We have a right to have nuclear power plants....we won't use it for a bad thing". Then the people in the US protest against Bush saying "Give Korea nuclear power...they aren't a bad government anymore....George Bush Must Go" they say.

So..all the denials about having a nuclear arsenol and how Bush was making it all up....now they go and threaten us with it.

Hmm... I hope North Korea nukes us! Then... we can nuke them back! ;)

Oh, you wanna N.K. to nuke us first before we nuke them back ? Man, ya :ugh:

The real simple solution for arrogant US is not to attack and they will be fine.

Just curious. What if a country like North Korea successfully attacked U.S. soil with a nuclear warhead? How should the U.S. respond to this act of aggression?

My answer would be that the U.S. provide an immediate response and a measured one at that, using conventional means of warfare. Responding back with a nuclear tactic will not accomplish anything for the U.S. and may actually worsen relations within the Asian countries situated near the Korean penisula.

Again, there's no substitute for continued deterrence and vigilance against hostile regimes. Prevention is the best medicine and should be used with countries like North Korea.

If N. Korea fires just one missile, with or without a nuke warhead, it is highly unlikely it would find its target in mainland USA. Our missile defenses are extremely capable.

However, to answer the second part of your question. The missile doesn't have to actually touch any of our land to be considered an act of aggression. It doesn't even need to be in our air space. If its plotted trajectory is even in our direction, before the missile clears the launch platform, we will respond.

I doubt that we would respond by nuking N.Korea territory. Our first response, of course, would be to stop their missile before it hits us. In the meantime, our fleets would head for N. Korean waters (if they're not already there), our current forces in S. Korea would gather at the border, and our forces in Japan/Okinawa would be put on alert.

I wouldn't be surprised if we used conventional aerial bombing to take out all N. Korea's missile bases, and other related military targets.

Rest assured, the plan is already "on the books". :)

I bet our gov't is "wargaming" all of this for the past few years since Bush called N. Korea as part of "axis of evil". I don't know if either gov'ts have the guts to go that far as nuking the other cuz that is the kiss of death for both countries. Once one country is nuked then it will respond back as defense and revenge with nuke attack. Also N. Korea have a history of going to the brink of war with USA to get what it wants so we'll have to wait and see.

If the west coast of CA is nuked then Im good as dead or get radiation sickness...not something Im looking forward to... :ugh3:

CNN breaking news says that NK fired three one of them is T-2 missile which died in midair and the other 2 is smaller missile. there's a mentions of 4th launch.

it is still unfolding...

Reason for today is probably "4th of July" and Shuttle Launch :dunno:

Yes And now GEORGE BUSH IS GONNA FIRE A DEFENSE MISSILE AT THEM.He said he would when North Korea Launch that missile

but all of those missiles failed.. It was failure for NK. Although US Missile Defense is on high alerts since lately..

US Missiles Defense hasn't fired any yet because all of those NK missiles didn't reach US Coast. they failed in midair.

Turn on CNN!

Boult, This is it. Did you know that the Koreans have stationed their special crack troops off the coast of California for years ? Glad that it failed for 30-45 seconds once they tried to test launch a missile. I can only praise God and I can truly say ..... " God Bless America " on the 4th of July !!!!!

North Korea fires at least 3 missiles

TOKYO - North Korea launched a long-range missile Wednesday that may be capable of reaching the United States but it failed after 35 or 40 seconds, two State Department officials said.

The missile was one of at least three that were fired. The two others were short-range missiles. All landed in the Sea of Japan, said the Japanese government, which was unable to confirm that they included a long-range missile.

The officials in Washington, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the long-range missile was the Taepodong-2, North Korea's most advanced missile with a range of up to 9,320 miles.

The launch came after weeks of speculation that the North was preparing to test its advanced Taepodong-2 missile from a site on its northeast coast. The preparations had generated stern warnings from the United States and Japan, which had threatened possible economic sanctions in response.

The Sea of Japan lies between Japan and the Korean Peninsula.

"North Korea has gone ahead with the launch despite international protest," Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe said. "That is regrettable from the standpoint of Japan's security, the stability of international society, and non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction."

They were test missles, not intended for us.

they're test missiles and have no nuclear stuff inside them. I think this is playing games and N. Korea knows we are having similiar problems with Iran too so USA is under alot of pressure from two countries with potential to have nuke weapons.
