I voted sometimes...For work, I wear light foundation, mascara, and lip gloss and for an evening out, I add blush and eye shadow. When I was a teenager, putting make up on perfectly was a must but now that I am older and more busy, sometimes I just dont feel like it.
No, it's not true.Is this true if you makeups for years, and they make your face really old and ruin the skin due the lack of air under the skin?
Yeah, I like a light dusting of bare Minerals, too.i dont wear make up for stay home. I wear bare mineral make up that I go out for fun or business meeting or somewhere. I love bare mineral because my face don't feel any pancake or heavy. They don't cause any oily. I tried many different foudation and they cause my face feel heavy and oily. I like bare minereal best.
When I was in high school, I was on the stage crew, stage make up team. I did some really dramatic faces, including "monsters". Not the best application for daily life make up! But we used a lot of the same principles of shading and highlighting. That was about 40 years ago.
When I was a teen, I ironed my hair straight, outlined my eyes with black, and wore white lipstick and nail polish. Obviously, those ways are not in style now! :P
In my twenties and thirties, lip gloss, mascara, and a light blush were all I used. I also did too much tanning in the sun (oops).
More recently, I've attended professional facial aesthetics classes, which included the use of makeup, analyzing skin and face types, skin care, waxing, and various facial techniques. (All the cool spa stuff.) Very interesting.
I also attend long-term, regularly scheduled skin care/cosmetics company's training sessions. Also, very informative.
As I get older, I can compare the various stages of age that I have experienced, and how those stages effect skin care and cosmetics. What worked for me in my twenties, with oily skin, brown eyes, medium brown/red hair, and different life style, doesn't work for me now with dry skin, green eyes, gray hair, and new activities. As the years go by, we can't stick with the same styles and products. Time marches on. :P
In my case, I didn't wear much make up to begin with, so less for me would nothing.I've found as I get older, the concept of "less is more" applies. Do you find that, too?

But I know what you mean. There is no way that I want the weight of make up pulling my face down even further. So I do use a light touch. I do need more color then I used to. My eyebrows are fading out and my eyelashes are thinner. I don't do tanning anymore (boo, hoo), so I'm colorless. I want enough make up to look alive, and to let my Deaf consumers see my expression. I use a taupe pencil to shape my gray brows so they can see which way my eyebrows move. I use a little mascara and liner just so my little almond eyes don't totally disappear. I also learned from a Deaf consumer that matte lip color is easier to watch than glossy. So, I use a matte lip color stick for work, then just add gloss over it for "play". A touch of blush for a healthy glow on my cheeks, and a dusting of light powder to cut down the shine on my Portuguese schnoz. My moisturizer, body lotion, and powder have sunscreen protection in them.
I prefer to concentrate my efforts on the health and condition of my skin. That means good cleansing methods and products, moisturizing, microdermabrasion, and exfoliation. Nothing harsh.
LOL! I understand the need for color! As a pasty white skinned redhead whose red hair is beginning to fade into some nondescript color that doesn't even have a name, I often feel like a ghost!
Hmm, that's kind of tough to say without meeting you. I could recommend some products but I don't want to come across as a spammer.Reba and Jillo,
I am not at your age yet but I am starting to notice that the kind of make up that looked good on me in my 20s is starting not to look good on me anymore. I drink lots of water, wash my face, and take vitamins on and off.
Any advice other than sunscreen on my face daily?
I used Oil of Olay but it seems not to be working when it comes to moisterizing my face like before.
I dont have the time nor the money to shop for costly products or take classes about skin care/makeup so any advice?
