New highly addictive drug targets teens

Here is the fact, several months ago, one of biggest drug cartel just got busted... Have anyone notice a dent or two on drug markets so far? Have we heard addict complain that they couldn't get dope they wanted? So far none, nada, zip, zero, whatsoever. This proves how huge black market is, and sorry no, that drug cartel isn't only one, but plenty cartels out there still hiding and still raking billions of dollars.

In reality, damage is done, caused by over 40 years war on drugs that have driven drug cartel from rags to filthy rich under bigass table! Government have tried, and tried over and over again trying to get drugs under control, only to have them into bigger and more dangerous problems than ever... can't you see the real proof in plain view?

And don't forget these 40 years worth of war on drugs have already lead to police state, do we really want more of it? I don't think we do. Hope that government decides to take first step by admitting that they don't have power to control addict, and let it go. We will always have addict regardless how we wanted them to turn out.

What do you suggest we do with druggies when they commit crimes to get their drugs?...Mental Health has failed...so has AA...only a small percentage has had any success....Let them go to the Black Markets to get their drug of choice?...and still commit crimes, depend upon the government for housing, food because of their uncontrollable addictions...

One friend of mine cannot keep Freon in her car because her son is addicted to Freon....a "huffer"....Disgusting, especially in this Florida weather...

Another friend cannot keep her meds out for her use, she has to hide them becuz her son will get to them....and no matter where she hides them, he finds them...and her doctor is reluctant to give her anymore...so who suffers here?

Another lady in my neighborhood is a chronic alcoholic....her family, even children, have nothing to do with her. Friends (even I) have tried to help....but her answer?...."I like to drink, it makes me happy"....and she also depends upon the government to support her, gets free medical care, as her health is horrible...still she drinks herself into a stupor every day and night.

A family member was a heroin drug addict and dealer...arms full of needle holes. I turned him in and he got 5 years in Huntsville...he has not forgiven me of that....not that I really care...but the good thing is now he is off Heroin but drinks daily...and has been in and out of Rehabs....all at the government's expense.

Drug Addicts are Liers and manipulators, only thinking about themselves and the next high...My feelings also are they are weak-minded, low self-esteem. I avoid them like the plague....And NO....I don't feel sorry for someone that lets themselves get hooked on any kind of drug...Not being harsh here...but it's common sense and so many druggies have none.

Death From Drug Addiction: Families Speak Out In Obituaries In Hopes Of Saving Others

It would have been easier to state, vaguely, that Ryan Bossie had simply “died” on Jan. 30. Maybe put the word “suddenly” or “unexpectedly” behind it.

But what the family of a young man from Caribou, Maine, chose to do instead was much bolder, and more difficult.

They opened his obituary with this line: “Ryan Douglas Bossie, 27, died January 30, 2015, in Portland after losing a hard-fought battle with addiction.” Though the obituary continued as a touching ode to a beloved son and brother — “He enjoyed skateboarding, snowboarding, hiking, gardening, fishing, participating in moose hunts, and “chillin” with his family and friends” — the first sentence was groundbreaking because his family went where most don’t.

The Bossie family confronted Ryan’s cause of death head-on with a clear admission to the public that their loved one had died from a drug overdose — and in doing so joined a growing number of families who are using obituaries as a way to warn people about the tragic reality of drug addiction.

“It’s better than sweeping it under the rug,” Ryan’s brother, Andrew, told the Bangor Daily News. The first pass at Ryan’s obituary didn’t name his struggle with drugs, so the family agreed to take what the paper calls “the rare step” of mentioning the addiction.” I just said I don’t think we should be ashamed of this,” recounts Andrew. “I hope that by including that maybe it helps someone else just a little bit, that their story has a different ending.”

Alex Hesse’s family went even further, using his obituary to describe in detail the hurt they felt by his passing. Hesse, who was 26 and from Ohio, died in January from a heroin overdose.

There is NO quick solution, we won't see them going away overnight. Its not going to happen and that is what it is. BUT, this does not mean we give up. We need to be honest with ourselves. What cause drug problem getting bigger than it was ever, what we should have done was, look, in the last 40 years we have made such attempt in wiping out drug problem in America and we need to ask our self honestly, have this (Richard Nixon's vision)ideology in the past 40 years worked? What have done in the past 40 years was expand our police system into police state, which have proven expanded the black market and this is the result from last 40 years battle. If we look prior 40 years ago (1933 to 1973), the problems with drugs were not that severe as we are seeing nowadays. What does these cops do back in between 1933 and 1973? Gotcha, they were busy eating at donut shop, drinking coffee and have only small pistol on their holster, while 1973 and present, we see cops with all of militarized weapons, and the routine busts have been done in militarized style.

History don't lie, let you be the judge.

Now in order to fix today's problems, it will get worse than better if we start to quit making same mistakes, expecting different results. Same concept with WWII, nobody did damn about Adolf Hitler until its too late, forcing more bloodier wars before peace comes in. War on drugs have far-fetching damages and will take patience, time before few generations comes in before it gets better.

So, what is your solution? Allow all drugs to be freely bought and sold in public without restriction?

Again, it takes time to recover. I have repeat the solution... Let it go, don't criminalize drug users.

Thats called "Education", this is what Obituary is for.

I'm trying to understand.

Are you saying, anyone should be able to use any drugs, any time or place, without any kind of criminal penalty?

Does that mean, the production, distribution, and sale of these drugs would also be without any kind of criminal penalty?

Would the drugs be regulated in any way to guarantee purity and safety? If so, then how would that be enforced without a criminal penalty?

You're saying that when drug addicts rob & murder to feed their addictions...not to criminalize them?....and it "takes time" for the addict to recover?....Once they commit a crime and only get a slap on the hand, they'll do it again and again....no doubt about it. Drug Fraud is alive and well....I feel our Justice system has been too easy on drug addicts, giving them chance after chance...Once a drug addict, always a drug addict, same as for alcoholism. They have to 100% refrain and not give in to the addiction...which most druggies are not capable of doing....

Do they really care about the people they hurt?...Families have been ruined because of their behaviors....still they cry and say they won't do it again...and the process is repeated and repeated.

It's simple, really. They don't want to change! And sending them to prison can either break them or make them worse...it's up to them actually. Sometimes (and that's sometimes) a stint in a prison cell for a few years does wonders...others, makes it worse....

:hmm:...They need help, not punishment?....We spend millions of $$ for rehab and halfway houses for addicts that simply don't want to give up their "happy pills"...they either go to the ER complaining of all sorts of pains to get pain killers...even faking a bad toothache to get them....They will even steal them from their parents/friends/older grandparents, etc. (it's happened to me)....
Doctors do prescribe pain management, as mine did with all the Ear(s) surgeries I've had and I do just fine, knowing that I do not and will not get hooked on pain killers....Too many people just pop a pill for any ache and pain they have....

It's called doctor shopping. My ex Mother in Law did it until she found a doctor that would give her a prescription for methadone for "her pain." She's still happily high as a kite.

Again, it takes time to recover. I have repeat the solution... Let it go, don't criminalize drug users.

A lot of the drug users aren't punished for their drug use, they are being punished for the crimes that they committed to support their drug habit! Recently a heroin addict in San Jose, robbed a group of girl scouts selling cookies in front of a Safeway of their $600 they had made from the cookies. He was caught and is now awaiting trial. So he didn't get arrested because he was an addict, he got arrested for strong arm robbery.

You're absolutely right...and like your way of thinking and analyzing....

America not learned from booze banning days many got rich on killed for moonshine, better to buy bottle vodka pay tax on it.Crime went down after that stupid law got ditched now replace by drugs,de crimalise them pay tax and tax go towards treatment if that is their wish otherwise let them take own road to calvery

Your missing my point. NOT all addict would do criminally activity.

40 years, war on drugs have done damages to society as whole, and it takes time for society to recover, the longer we wait (Legalize and let it go) we will suffer with newer and more dangerous drugs that is being awaiting for us to discover. until we wake up and realize that the drug law is BROKEN. In other word, the drug law we have is a real incentives for all cartels who were motivated by profit, period. That is what the reality there is. Ban this, ban that.... Cartel's thinking (hmmm, its ban and I see money... how do I do it without getting bust... recruit ex cons, [ideas keeping rolling], and so on). In order to choke cartel, let it go, treat with education and of course Obituary would be great idea. Thats why I am pointing to Education as the best possible solution, but it is not meant to be magic bullet because there isn't such a magic bullet exist...

What I really am saying is, alright go ahead fry your brain with drugs as long as you abide all the laws and not hurting anybody (No drug law exists), breaking one of them like robbing a bank, etc will criminalize them anyway. You get killed by drugs, it will be announced as a courtesy of Department of Education.

As of right now, governor of New York is considering ban on Palcohol, a powdered alcohol and I am scary because if that happens, somebody is going to find a way how to make Palcohol and it could be deadlier than the legal one.

You're saying that when drug addicts rob & murder to feed their addictions...not to criminalize them?....and it "takes time" for the addict to recover?....Once they commit a crime and only get a slap on the hand, they'll do it again and again....no doubt about it. unfortunately the world don't see it that way dhb goverments mine and yours got pre-conceived ideas about drugs and the people who take them..
I take morphine for pain I get it legit another person get it illegal tearing hair out for next fix...these people were and can be pillars of community even taking morphine no one would ever know

Legalized or not, it's still a potent substance that will lead to all sorts of health problems, especially mental issues. So an addict can not realistically achieve total recovery from a drug because their brain has been "wired" (made permanent connections) for it. No brain can "unwire" itself so the only recourse an addict has is to manage compulsions for the rest of their lives, and avoid people and triggers that lead to a relapse. Not even worth to start experimenting with it.

heroin addict could live to 100 do decent job you would never know he heroin addict, thats the ones who get it legit
