Yeah, it is like $1,795 in 1980 is like $18,000 due to its low minimum wage, now most of US' minimum wage is $10/hr, $1,499 is reasonable price. :D

These days you can get a entry-level laptop for $300 :)

I began working with Mac's around 1990. My first Mac that I owned was the 1987 model but I bought it used during the 90's. Later, I bought a used 1998 iMac G3 around 2002. A few years later, I bought an updated iMac (used). That was the only way I could afford them.

Finally, I bought my first new MacBook Pro.

I remember the NEW 1984 Macs coming into TSD around 1990-ish too! They were still pretty cool.
 
My spellcheck came back on my work computer (Google toolbar). Yay!

We got first Mac in 1993 and it was pizza box style - cost $1,800. (in 1993 dollar)

My first new MacBook Pro was in 2007 - for first time since new world ROM (post-1998).
 
Funny thing....soon as WDYS made this thread...my spellcheck came up here on AD....(never had it before)....as when I do make a spelling mistake, I try to figure it out myself.
 
I have new computer and it underlines misspelled words!! I got a HP computer. I killed my last one.

So does mine...??...but mine's a Dell...several years old...it just popped up when you made this thread...so guessing you gave it to me..(maybe I needed it) haha
