My Battle with the Norwegian Scabies....

Do you rent or own? Will insurance cover any damages?

For the past 6 months, I'm renting since 2 of my boys are out of the house....So don't believe insurance will cover anything....Anyway. it's all material things, my health is more important...and to say...."well, it's about time for some new furniture!....but it will be LEATHER, as I read Scabies do not infest Leather...just Cloth...and since My Lazy-Boy furniture is suede,,feel sure that is the root of it all...then again...who really knows, as they cannot be seen with the eye.

Right now, I'm back to cleaning and feeling better, just tired...3 more rooms to go!

Thanks, Reba

oh man .. that suxs big time!!
scabies! :rl: RR!

hang in there

Sorry you have to experience it RR. BTW, oral medications deal with parasitic infections more directly than external creams. Has your doctor given you the option to take them in pill form?

No...not yet...but have an 2:45 appt. tomorrow and will ask her about this...thanks!

do you have a hot tub or bath to soak in, RR?

Wish I did (hot tub)...but what I do is...get my bath water as hot as I can stand it....add 5 capfulls of bleach to the water...(as per my doctor...2-3 times weekly)....I soak in it...makes you feel better....

The reason I was asking about renting is that maybe you could move out to another place. Then the owner could tent the building for treatment. :dunno:

I know what you mean about every ailment seems to be worse as we get older. Worse, but not insurmountable. :)

I'm praying for your speedy and complete recovery.

Was considering this last week....and I just might do it....

:aw:RR, yes, I did wonder if soaking in the hot water would be helpful, not only for any purely physical reasons - mostly I thought in terms of stress relief:wave:

Good Lord!! I just read all this. So, so sorry you are having to deal with this.

I hope you get past it soon! I think there's another, less toxic lotion you can use (at least on the domestic ones); I'll check with someone tomorrow. Hang in there!

Oh no!! Hang in there!!

Good grief , RR is not dying , I knew someone that just had scabies and their whole world did not fall apart and they live in a house with a basement that had to be clean too.

My daughter, her husband, and my grandson battled scabies for about 3 months.

Hope yours goes away soon.

That had to hard on your grandson , the cream is really hard on children . The cream has DTT in it or something similar to it.

Oh my gosh! *shudders* makes me second guess hugging people... I hope you pull through this! I know I had a case of scabies when I was like, ten? It was a small spot on my hand and I was prescribed a pill to take. Never had an issue past that. ( sounds like I was very lucky! ) Maybe like SCbassist said, a pill would probably work much much better than a cream! It's terrible you got such an awful repercussion for trying to help someone out. :( I hope you get through this soon though! Those sound god awful! :(

Thank you!...and yes...(about hugging people)...sort of makes you anti-social until the Scabies have gone....and everytime I see someone scratching or itching....it freeks me out, wondering if they have Scabies.

Well, I've been up since 5AM....anxious to see the Doctor agian today at 2:45pm and getting an oral prescription if she will prescribe one....Or just admit me to the hospital for the skin scraping and perhaps a 72-hour time away from my home...as it's been said a 72-hour time will starve the Scabies, but sometimes the mites survive somehow...

Will be back later today.

Sure hope not! (my dying)...but feel the main problem is:..how long were the Scabies in that back pack?....my Son was in and out of that closet, but did not bother with the back pack...but his clothes got all infested....(he didn't know this)....So he was all over the house, sitting on the furniture, etc. ....

So they spread all over my house....it's been about 2 months now...cleaning, vacuuming...throwing away things made of Cloth...washing, drying everything...keeping clothing in plastic bags...cleaning and spraying with bleach/water...shampooing/vacuuming the carpets...even resorted to spraying the walls with bleach/water....(es[ecially the closet where the back pack was to begin with...mopping the tile and wood floors with bleach/water.....Covered the furniture with plastic.....NOW...I've duct-taped that closet and refuse to open it at all!

Been on the cream for 2 months...I'm missing something but don't know what it is....Took my doggie to the Vet...she does not have Scabies....(no rash) or itching....

Possible the Scabie mites are in my carpeting even tho' it's been shampooed many times and sprayed.....I really don't know as the human eye cannot see Scabies.
