MSNBC: Texas to let teachers bring guns to school

and what if the cops show up and how are the cops know that the armed teacher is not the shooter???? (especially at colleges/universities)

I would learn martial arts... that way my 'weapons' can't be stolen.

KarrisaMann05, you got a good list on why we shouldn't armed the teachers.

oh... my.... god..... you people need to stop with WHAT IF!?!?!? WHAT IF!??!?!? OBVIOUSLY the teacher is not going to run and WAVE AROUND with his gun! OBVIOUSLY - teacher and police will train together to learn proper procedure to reduce the chance of friendly fire. OBVIOUSLY!

We can't just expect those to be under control of the guns, we have to ensure nobody would get hurt or shot, just like banning playing the ball in the house, it could break the windows or glasses or even hurt people. Guns is just the same.

You might want to train the teachers to do the right thing. What IF one of the teachers is panic in the reality and shoot someone by mistake. Who's fault is that? You might want to shoot the panic teacher if your child get hurt. That would make it even.

taser vs. gun. guess who loses?

Teacher: "Here are your tests back. Any questions?"
Student: "Teacher, why did I get a 'F' on my test?"
Teacher: "Because you didn't do well. Did you study?"
Student: "No."
Teacher: "Then it's your own fault for failing the test."
Student: "Not fair!" *grunts*
Teacher: "Sorry, now please sit down."
Student: "No! Forget it! I'm calling my mommy!"
Teacher: *shoots taser*

... 30 seconds later ...

Teacher: *stops tasering student* "Any other questions?"

Gee, PuyoPiyo

Real gun is not a toy. If it is a toy gun, then it's nothing, but a broken window is not a big deal.

But, the children will never come back to the school because of the trauma. Their parents might sue the school. Actually, I'll give a star sticker on your forehead.

I doubt a good teacher would take advantage of this privilege. Kids aren't being searched for weapons except in ghetto area. So tell me why teachers cannot protect themselves?
I agree with you.

"It's not a right, it's a privilege."

This applies to everything: alcohol, sex, driving, weapons, etc...

Just because the law is passed doesn't mean that EVERY teacher will bring a gun to school. A few MIGHT, but I don't blame them... after all, it's for protection. It's not like they're going to shoot every student who objects to getting a 'F' on their tests.

Lately, parents have been refusing to take the responsibility for the lives of their children... if it happens in school. What they don't realize is that just about everything that happens in these children's lives... begin at home.

So, if these parents can't take responsibility for the lives of their children... then let the teachers take responsibility for their own protection.

I think you didn't get my point, guns have to be restrict, we can't just let the people to carrying guns anywhere and shoot anywhere they want with us expecting them knowing how to keep under control, we have to enforce the restrict the guns just like we did with the ball. Plus I never said "toys", but a ball.

That won't be easy because there are millions of guns in our country. I'm sure that a lot of guns are hidden everywhere. It will be always guns if the law bans people from carry it. You know many people who have very low IQ still get guns. Even worse, illegal groups of militants that something that we have to think about.

My opinion is that militants or rebel military groups are considered to be good because we never know whether our government is going to attack us in our own country. It's a perfect example of what happened in Russia and Georgia. This is not easy for me to answer about the militants and our army.

I wish that a weapon never invented thousands of years ago. Everything would be very different.

oh.... another "WHAT IF".... nope not gonna bother replying to it. How about this - "WHAT IF" the cop is in panic mode and under heavy duress and shot the child by mistake? Now whose fault is that?

Didn't you read my post carefully? I said these teachers have to be intensively trained and APPROVED by school officials. Don't think any teacher can bring it. Maybe out of 20 teachers... only 2 are qualified and that is MORE MORE MORE MORE than enough for me to protect the school.

in case you didn't know... Vampy was being sarcastic to you and Piyo.

again your type of restriction = "polite version" of gun ban :cool2:

Militias only exist to protect their own interests. They wouldn't bother helping out the general population.

yup pretty much! just as much as government doesn't bother helping out other countries unless it's their own interests being disrupted.... like oil

got any better idea? if not... please stfu and spend less time on complaining and spend more time on coming up with something better than gun. It's funny... any ideas we propose, ya'all complain

1. I propose fencing the school, hiring armed guards, and installing metal detectors

2. I propose allowing teachers to carry guns

3. I propose each student to undergo psychiatrist screening

jiro123

I had to read some of your posts and found one that I agree. See above.

On number 1 is a better choice.

Disagree with #2

Possiblity #3 but too costly, but choose some students with their background as best they can.

Me and PuyoPiyo have the right to express our opinion.

Be careful with my male deers, and they will make you loose your two bullets or especially his cute dog's sharp teeth. Anyway, I respect your opinion.

fine by me. I already explained my "complaint" to you and other's choice for picking #1. But you guys complained back with ridiculous and unrealistic reasons and "WHAT IF" for my choice #2. At least my complaint was sound and reasonable... not "WHAT IF"

Question: Knowing that most school districts have adopted the "Safe School Zones" meaning No weapons, no drugs in a school neighborhood, wouldn't this be a contradiction to their policies to begin with?

... Jiro, are you mocking me for being illogical??

I begin to lost some respect from you, even you don't realize what my true concern is.

I agree mostly with you, but about the mitilaries, armies, etc with the guns well we need them. We can't defend ourselves without them.

Did I got in debate with Vampy here?

Again, illogically difference meaning of "ban" and "restriction". Look at the word "restriction", "re" mean repeat and striction comes from the word of "strict". So there is NO "ban", "illegal", "elimate", "ease", etc. in the word of "restriction". :cool2:

Me and PuyoPiyo have the right to express our opinion.

Exactly.

Yupp that's what I thought so, I was surprised reading the article..

like what Chase said - the time has come.. The policies/laws/regulations change as according to social change. It always change just like gay marriage law, banning trans fat oil, etc. With several cases of school shootings and a brief period of rising youth violent crimes... the time has come and the teachers must fend for themselves and for their students. Believe me - the school will most likely ban the gun again in the future and I have absolutely no problem with that.

... Jiro, are you mocking me for being illogical??

Not at all. You know I'd never mock you. I've already answered to your post but other people kept on coming with more ridiculous WHAT IF.

I've already explained that I'm perfectly fine with.. for ie... arming 2 out of 20 teachers but I'm not fine with arming even half of them - that's a large margin of errors and your concern would be perfectly valid for this situation. :cool2:

I think the cats needs to take over this schitt.

No offense, but this is a fucking bad idea to have teachers that owns guns, WTF!?

2. April 16 2007 – Virginia Tech – 32 dead / 23 injured (suicide)

5. April 20 1999 – Columbine High School – 13 dead / 24 injured (2 suicides)

Number of incidents of including Major and “Minor School Shootings” (with about 0-3 deaths)

** I’m starting with Columbine Shooting **
1999 – 2
2000 – 1
2001 – 2
2002 – 2
2003 – 4
2004 – 1
2005 – 2
2006 – 5
2007 – 4
2008 – 5

If you notice – in all major school shootings… not ONE school shooter has been apprehended or shot by cops. They committed suicide. THEREFORE – relying on police is useless.
