I'm not getting why California has higher unemployment while states in harsh climates have better job growth. North and South Dakota has one of the lowest. :dunno:

1. Illegals EVERYWHERE
2. Super high biz taxes
3. Unions

Even dishwashers have a union here and maids are fighting for there right to organize now. Businesses are leaving California in bunches.

Gee that's pretty bad. California govt should do something about too many gangs and illegal immigrants. If thry get rid of them then California should be a better place to live without all the shooting and crime activity.

Just read that California ranks 9th for happiest state to live. With that economy and illegal immigrants and all the taxes?!

Probably because of the warm weather and people being very active so they get out of the house more often. I always felt so happy whenever I went to San Diego despite the horrible traffic there. Just my theory.

yeah probably...check out the link I posted in a new thread "Happiest States to live in" You're in one of the states.

Yes. California has the most beautiful landscapes including this;

Morro Bay Volcanic Rock
MorroBay-EarlyMornx270.jpg

I have a sister and her teens who live in Morro Bay. In the picture, We usually call it Morro Rock. My grandparents used to own the general store there for years before they retired.

As for jobs in Morro bay, Cambria, Cayucos, and San Luis Obispo areas, unfortunately, several teachers were laid off at schools. You have to have special skills: any language, Spanish, ASL, Mandarin, etc to teach them. My sister thought she was going to be laid off, but she is the only only at the elementary school who speaks Spanish fluently now to teach children (their primary language is Spanish) to read English. The principal needs her desperately, and wants to keep her. She has to translate for parents-teachers conferences, so it keeps her busy. She is not even certified.

There are several seasonal jobs that are available during the summer for young people. Cal Poly and Cuesta College are not far.

There are many houses for rent, but the rents are extremely high. If you have a trailer or mobile home that you can move, there is a nice and clean area in Morro Bay, and all you need to do is pay the utility bill. I don't know how much it costs right now. It's been about 6 years ago.

I used to live in SF/Daly City for 3.5 years and had a 2004 Toyota Corolla with me and it had not gotten stolen at all. Believe it or not.

You lived in SF/Daly city, so it was safe. You have been very lucky.

I never forget Unions protests in San Diego. My bro and his buddies used to work for evil Ralphs, and got rip off from the unions. Many protested for months and months-- more like every few years.. it is more like routine. lol

Local politicians in the Southern CA tried to do something about illegals, and passed the local proposals, but most of them were thrown out in the courts.

I think the illegals are working for the court system. :hmm: North CA has illegal problems too, not only South CA. Check out Stockton, Oakland, etc. Gangs weren't invented in California...they were invented from outside the US.

Like Shel said I think it is the weather and the recreation.

I have a cousin that lives in south Stanislaus County. I have visited his place once and it is nice rural area. Nice new house and cheap, I think 4 bedrooms for around 300K I'm not certain since it was few years ago. I'm sure the rent there is also cheaper as well, but quite a long drive from the bay area. I don't know how good or bad that area is since I haven't talk to my cousin in a long while.

I have a few friends that lives in San Joaquin County.. most areas are just as bad as druggies and high crimes. One has a 3 bedroom house rented for $1100 or something and plenty of 24 hours stores in the area.

I'm in the bay area, and this house I am renting was owned by my late uncle and aunt. My cousin took over the estate and lets me rent it... it has 3 bed room for $1k. I feel lucky to have a cheap rent compared to the bay area which 3 bedroom house typically runs anywhere from $1500 to $2500 depending on the location. Houses on the hills runs much higher here.

Good luck Seq.

Ah Stanislaus County...that's where Modesto area is. I have read that Modesto is similar to Stockton and they're both not really that great places to live. Maybe in rural areas could probably fare better.

If I made pretty good money, I would live in Santa Rosa, California in a heartbeat.

Why don't you live closer to Las Vegas or Death Valley :D Oh north? hmm.. find somewhere closer to Oregon border. Ta-da?

Which part in CA? Are you going to bring your horses from East to West? If SO, I might want to borrow your horses and ride on the beach, that'd be fun. I checked internet says ride horse on the beach for 1 hour cost nearly $250/hr. You can start your own business as horse riding on the beach, for sure you will be super-busy and profitable. :cool2:
