Jiro, my very first bike was a brand new 1970 Triumph Bonneville! Today's Triumphs look ghastly to me, lol. Back in the day, the Triumphs and another English bike I can't remmy the name...were notorious for their leaky gaskets. Never happened to mine, tho.....great bike of the day...back in the days when Hondas were uglier than sin and sounded like they were running on rubber bands vs the full throaty sound of my double carbed Bonny!
I've always want to ride motorcycle especially in the HD but the crazy drivers out there. No gracias.
Yes, I do.Insufficent information, and it is bad way to compare.
The best way to compare is look at the coverage, for example
Insurance A has liablity coverage of up to $25K, no comprehensive with $1,000 deductible and cost 200 dollars a year
Insurance B has liablity coverage of up to $100K, full comprehensive with $500 deductible and cost 300 dollars a year
which is actually cheaper?
Hope you get the idea
HD is nice, yes I rode few times on 84 shovel head FLHS with straight pipe.
What I like the most is Yamaha Vstar 1100 custom with straight pipe (Cobra Brand) and yes I rode it several times. MAN!
I also like Goldwing for long ride. I just got back home from work on Goldwing.
I pay about $200.00 a year for my 1994 Gold Wing. Have about 140K miles on it now and still runs like new. I put about 10K miles a year on it. Bought it used with 87K miles for 6K. Very happy with it. Luckily I live in a area where I can ride 350 days a year. Only other bike I ever had that was this smooth and quiet was an Ariel square four. Most of you will be to young to remember them
really? in this downpour? I guess you don't have rain up there.

It depends on many variables as most insurance quotes do. What year, make and model is the bike? How old are the drivers? What kind of driving record the drivers have? etc, etc,. It would not be an accurate assessment to provide numbers without knowing the details. What do you consider to be acceptable motorcycle insurance rates?
We were quoted $269. Does that sound right to you?

Somehow I overlooked this post before. This is very close to what my bike is and I pay about $120.00 per year for full coverage. Technically we are not insured year round for collision as the winters for most people are not riding season.
1996 VN800B
Midwest
good driving record

What do you mean "Technically we are not insured year round for collision"? Are you actually uninsured during winter months? You don't ride your bike at all during that time?
I wonder what bike commuters do for transportation the rest of the year? Stay home?that would makes sense since most insurance policy is paid for either 6-months or 1-year. Since rockdrummer lives near Chicago... I'm guessing his riding season is very short. I'd say around 7 months a year.
I'm somewhat hardcore (all thanks to heated gear) so I ride about 9 months a year. Sometimes we get warm winter so I go out and ride.

That doesn't make a bike very practical, does it?
Most riders in the South (East, West, and Gulf Coast) are year-round riders. They get more bang for the buck with their bikes.car lol... or bus
Majority of bikers ride recreationally (meaning their motorcycle are their secondary vehicle). I ride full-time and car is my secondary vehicle
