It's make sense to me due motorcyce do not have the CAT (Catalytic Converter)

Everyone thought HIGH MPG mean less emission due light weight but nope.
 
2003 BMW F650GS. it has low emission rate cuz of standard closed loop, three-way catalytic converter.

That's all I know 13 is oxygen sensor and 9 is exhaust pipe. LOL.

What? I thought the automobiles are more emissions than the motorcycles. What a heck? That's explains why the motorcycles doesn't have cat converters.:eek:
I see the highest CO (carbon monoxide) on the motorcycle of the 1990's and also highest HC (hydrocarbon) that the motorcycle of the 1980's, emits. Oh dang. I seem not understand how the motorcycles emits lot of emissions.. weird. Surprised
 
I think that part of number five is the converter. One looks like muffler part.

Yes you are right.... cuz the computer uses the O2 sensor and coolant temp sensor for open/closed loop if the cold engine is about to warm up, what you call it? Open loop. Closed loop is meaning the full warmed up and proper feedbacks such as air/fuel metering and timing.... I think the modern motorcycles equipped with computer controlled systems like you mentioned, may not use cat converters OR use cat converters either. Maybe I be wrong?

Welcome back. long time to see u again. Maybe. Most cat converters in the automobiles are in the front and in the middle of the chassis... the mufflers at the last of the exhaust systems, should be same as the motorcycles..

Wait a minute... Is this picture for one bank side? I guess your bike have 2-O2 sensors and 2 cat converters?
 
It's on a per gallon basis though, so really the cars reading should be doubled, since it gets 20mpg and the motorcycle gets 40-75 (250).

Yes most cat in the front area, but how do you place that on motorcycle? You have limitations to where it can go.
 
The Highlander, your right, its on mythbuster already proved that motorcycle is worse with emission than cars. It's fact, and I was surprised too.

I think there is reason behind this, first no cat system on most bikes, second the chemical (Fuel) changes during combustion may be different on motorcycle than cars. Don't shoot me, I have limited understand how this whatever you call it, works.

Other factor is that generally motorcycles can't carry much like cars can, which makes it more efficient on cars than motorcycle. Lastly, when it comes to motorcycle.... Aerodynamic which motorcycle generally lacks.

just 1. the other canister is almost useless but I think to reduce the noise.
 
oh I'm not surprised that motorcycle has worse emission than car. it makes sense. so does lawn mower, dirt bike, etc.

at least it doesn't consume much gas so it's a give or take.

The pix in OP, states " EMISSION PER MILE" is not mpg. This pic is talking about grams per mile (g/mi), that measure the amount of the emissions (HC,CO,CO2 and NOx) emits from the tailpipe(s) while the vehicle/motorcycle travels one mile on the road.
