Most dangerous metro areas in the US

Wisconsin isn't on the list.

However, I can't say that I was surprised by the number one city.

As for the others, have any of you noticed that many of them appear on the show "Cops?"
Interesting coincidence.

Yep, I noticed a lot of them from Miami and Detroit come on COPS.

Very surprised that washington, DC, Phx, and LA aren't on the list. Not surprised that Baltimore is on it...

These statistics are misleading, regardless which city you are at, it all depends on where you're standing (ie east side, north side, central, etc.) - of course there is the miniscule odds of getting into trouble, especially in the safest city. I have been to Detroit with no problems what-so-ever, though I disliked Portland OR for it's rude people, though I don't blame Portland as a whole, just a case of "wrong place, wrong time" coincidence. My city Charlotte NC is on the list, and I STILL love it!

Crime rate in LA has greatly improved in past few years.

That's great news! When I used to go to LA from Phx in the late 80s and early 90s, crime there was just horrible.

Yup, that's true and 80's was cocaine epidemic and gang turf war were so terrible in LA at this time, number of murders in 1992 is around 1,200 but went decline to high 300's in 2008.

Yup, same with some of Inland Empire due cheaper real estate at earlier time but haven't get any new about today.

This is true although my experiences in Detroit have been mixed. Once I had a homeless person follow me while I was being trained with my first guide dog. He wouldn't leave us alone, so my trainer had to call the police.

In Milwaukee, the north and south side are the part of the city you want to avoid. The east side, northwest side and southwest side are the safest in terms of crime level. One of the interesting things about Milwaukee is that it is surrounded by a number of suburban communities. One of them is located minutes from downtown while others are 20 minutes or more away. I happen to live in the suburbs, but if I had to live on the Eastside of Milwaukee, I wouldn't mind. The university I attend is in that neighborhood and it's a wonderful area of culture and diversity. The only complaint I would have is the extremely high rent. Rent starts at $800/month and can go as high as $1000/month or more.
