Most dangerous metro areas in the US

I am kind of surprised that Nashville, Tenn., still made in the top 10 most dangerous metro area. I guess Nashville got what it wanted for wanting to be the next Atlanta. The same can be said for Orlando and Charlotte!

yep. all thanks to Rudy and NYPD Commissioner Bratton. Those duo had very very aggressive policy. They removed all X-rated stores that are within x-blocks from kid zone, increased # of NYPD officers and patrols, created several special police task forces to clamp down on white collar corruptions, organized crimes, gang, and several more. As the result of that - Time Squares was reborn. It's no longer littered with prostitutes & pimps, peep shows, and drug dealers at every corners like you see in movies.

Philly mayor even called Bratton for advice on making his city safer several years ago. I recently went to Philly last year and I was very amazed at its transformation compared to several years ago. Philly really did a great job cleaning up its image and neighborhoods. Long way to go though.... Camden is just across the river from Philly so that put a damper on Philly's effort.

LOL, now Philly's asking for their advice. :laugh2: I wonder about Detroit. :hmm: The mayor in Detroit usually sucks balls.

Unfortunately, the people of Detroit have had a long string of bad mayors. Milwaukee used to be in the same predicament after Major John Norquist was elected. He didn't do anything for the city except to propose building more hotels in the downtown area which we did not need given the decrease in tourists who visit every year. The current mayor has some excellent plans for developing expensive condos near the lakefront where business is improving slowly but surely. Within a few years, I believe Milwaukee will turn itself around and receive the respect it deserves instead of being mocked as a "city of beer guzzlers and bowlers."

Hmmm, I hope they will turn Milwaukee around and at least it's not in top 10 most dangerous metro areas. :P

I do too.

I'm also glad Milwaukee isn't in the Top 10. I've lived in Milwaukee County my entire life and feel very safe here. There are areas that should be avoided, but overall, the city of Milwaukee is pretty safe. :D

Detroit is probably the lost cause. It has a history of deep deep deep corruption. I'm not sure how they're going to salvage it.

What Detroit government needs to do is rebuild that city from the ground up. That's going to be a tremendous undertaking, but it can be done. Just look at how many other major metropolitan areas have improved over the years. If they can do it, so can Detroit.

Complete and random violence is overall pretty rare. Most of the violence out there is the result of the drug trade. Like it's gang warfare or junkies trying to get their next fix. NYC IS pretty safe overall.
