I’m guessing strawberry, but I’m not sure why. All the other fruits have 4, 5, or 6 letters, but strawberry has 10. Or it may be that all the others have one or two syllables, but strawberry has 3. Or it may be that strawberries have edible seeds, unlike the others. Or it may be that strawberries grow out of the ground—all the others grow on trees or vines.

By the way, that’s one of the questions in the emode.com IQ test. I didn’t know if I answered that one correctly or not, though. They only give you your final score—they don’t tell you which ones you got right. Looks like I missed that one.
 
Yeah, because pear is the only one that has 4 letters. I was going to guess orange, because it's the only one you can't make jam out of. But I bet it's pear.

No, marmalade is not the same as jam. Very similar, but not exactly the same. OK—so now we’ve eliminated 3 out of 7. We’ve used our 50/50. I’d like to phone a friend.
