so u know how to figure out how to pay what percent for a tip?

so u know how to figure out how to pay what percent for a tip?

Yeah, so for instance, in South Africa for a tip, we give 10% of whatever, our total restaurant bill is, so for instance our bill is in my currency R100, 10% of that would be R10 (or in decimals : 0.1 multiplied by R100=R10), so it will mean that R10 would be the tip.

But when we go to the counter, we pay R110, because R100 was for the food we ate, and R10 is the tip, or the service bill!

tip is simple factor to do math :D

if you tend to pay 10% then the tip for $30 is $3 in tip :D

if you tend to pay 15% then the tip for $30 is $4.50 in tip :D

easy math

okay thats where my major plm is... i forget how to do factions, percent, etc

basic thing.. as you see. 10% is moving one decimal point to the left.. for example

$30.00 u see the decimal point.. and then move by one to left will make it $3.000

as for 5% is same as half for 10% for example $3.00 half of it is $1.50 that's all math is all about ;)

you aren't only one that asked for help i also helped soonerseth with math back then..

True that, because my dad is a professor of mathematics and applied mathematics, and he has managed to teach the same type of mathematics at various universities in the world!!

I'm South African, so many currency is ZAR (zuid-afrikaanse rand) or the Rand as we simply call it!!

I usually pay 20% for a tip. I just take the amount of the bill, double it, and move the decimal point one place to left.

Example: If the bill for lunch is $15, double that is 30. Then move the decimal one place to the left, and that's 3.0 or $3. If the amounts don't come out evenly, I round them off so I can easily do the math in my head.

Isn't the tip percentage 18% nowadays? 20% makes it easier to calculate though...

You're welcome here. And also I like your quote, "Be a first-rate version of yourself, and not a second-rate version of anyone else!!" May I copycat your quote no I can't be second of another of yours? HA!

I thought the tip was 15%?!

But, anyway, I'm in the same boat as Spice. Math and myself don't get along. It just makes me...

:dizzy:

oh man i choked on my math test today! and it was basic math the ones i studied from last semeter *sigh*

% of tip all depends on the restaurant. paper napkins 10-15%, cloth napkins 15-20%
