MAC users suck....

yea just you. can't say same for general public and people who are technologically-challenged.

So, then you admit on a fundamental level, the technology of a PC is perfectly fine and comparable to Apple (assuming one is an experienced user) at a fraction of the cost?

There you have it. Macs are designed to be user friendly, and you pay a premium for it. THAT is the only true advantage of Apple. The rest of it, they've just hoodwinked you all into believing.

Yeah, but the thing is that is sales, something a lot of us deaf would actually struggle doing in the retail world. When you talk development and corporate level jobs, where is that shown at apple? I see it all the time with google&co (see the links up), but with apple it's like "send in an application and you'll hear back if we're interested." Then you see stuff like Jobs: Hey I'm gonna assign Cook to my position.

Company-client is sort of a two way street, google's got that part good for the most part, but I can't say it seems the same for apple.

Google makes products that people requested for.
Apple makes products that they think it's best for people.

The way Google is going right now... it ain't looking good - business-wise. It's simply not sustainable. They need to refocus and state its goal clearly. Most importantly - they need to learn how to finish what they start. This "beta" facade is just too infantile. That's why many key players left Google.

I hate the same laptop I loved 18 months ago. I think I am going MacBook Pro in the coming month.

Here's more proof to my point. Nathan Kester is one of the few deafies I know of at a successful top organization.. We've exchanged emails a few times.

Guess where he works.... I still have yet to hear someone who is deaf/HOH working at Apple's mid or upper level, who is not in retail.

Google, python programmer. My guess. :dunno:

...Apple doesn't allow mark-up. that's how strong its grip is on price control. That's why many stores don't sell Apple products.
When they sell the used products thru their stores, that established price is the marked up price. Compare the prices that a store sells for to what an individual will sell for.

it's all about justified cost. Cost of Apple product is justified and fairly reasonable. Cost of textbook is not reasonable.
Nah. They whine because textbooks aren't sexy, they aren't fun, and they represent work.

At fundamental level, the technology of PC is short-term and a failure. This is what you get for "a fraction of the cost" right now. In 4 years? You'll need to upgrade to new Windows and can you believe the cost of that? Ridiculous. How long till I need to reformat my PC? Ridiculous.

Your $599.99 PC can add up along with hardware upgrades and OS upgrade to $1000 range.

The technology of Apple is long-term and cost-effective. I'm much pretty set for 4+ years without needing to upgrade or buy another computer. That's why I opted for Apple. I think most of my friends who have Apple have had reformatted it maximum only once in its lifetime.

Windows 7 was supposed to be user-friendly too..... and yet it's difficult to do any simple thing. Can you do set up a file sharing in 30 seconds? Do you feel naked without antivirus or security programs?

Endless cycle of brainwashing.

If they don't sell, they've got to leave a sizeable amount of their investment money tied up in a non-dividend-paying stock because Apple shares are ridiculously high, even two years ago.

Welcome to Investing 101. It's a risk they chose to take....And I don't hear them complaining. *shrug*

oh you're talking about used products. Well anybody can sell it at whatever the price they want but their limitation is setting a price that people would buy because of Apple's price on new products.

ie - if the used product is $500 and Apple's new product is $600.... what's the point? $450 won't even attract me unless it's at least 30%-35% below the cost of brand new product so that means seller would have to price it at around $400 range to sell.

Nah. They whine because textbooks aren't sexy, they aren't fun, and they represent work.

Apple - To all iPhone customers
To all iPhone customers:

I have received hundreds of emails from iPhone customers who are upset about Apple dropping the price of iPhone by $200 two months after it went on sale. After reading every one of these emails, I have some observations and conclusions.

First, I am sure that we are making the correct decision to lower the price of the 8GB iPhone from $599 to $399, and that now is the right time to do it. iPhone is a breakthrough product, and we have the chance to 'go for it' this holiday season. iPhone is so far ahead of the competition, and now it will be affordable by even more customers. It benefits both Apple and every iPhone user to get as many new customers as possible in the iPhone 'tent'. We strongly believe the $399 price will help us do just that this holiday season.

Second, being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever. This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you'll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon. The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Apple tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced.

Third, even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.

Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple's website next week. Stay tuned.

We want to do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers. We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Apple.

Steve Jobs
Apple CEO

I dunno what you call that. greed? clever marketing ploy? brainwashing? :dunno2:

what's wrong?

I'm no techie as you know.... My B-I-L is going to look at it. It's very slooooww now. and the wireless drops the connection often no matter where it is. I get white screens out of the blue too. Everything goes completely white.

Probably minor fixes but I also really like the MacBook Pro

Number one, the decision shows Jobs knows his stuff is/was expensive, so he lowered the price.
#2, They didn't get $200 cash back, but they did get a depreciated $100 towards _another_ apple product or software. See, there's the selectiveness. They are getting another $100 credit in something apple!

Not greed, not selfishness, but I do think it was clever.
Some people may have used it on another apple product or bought one for their friends. Some may have bought itune stores software, hell, I don't even know what's really worth buying to total $100 on there, I'd rather use it to buy and play with another tech, apple, android, whatever, not just apple only.

only 18 months and it's going kaput? yea now you know why I switched the plane and paid a premium for it. In fact - I don't see it as premium since I'll be saving several hundred bucks in long-term. I can fix whatever I encounter in PC but why must I put up with this nonsense?

My MacBookPro and its OS software are already advanced enough to be sustainable for next 4+ years without a hitch unless PC comes up with something remarkable next year that would render Apple obsoleted but I don't foresee that happening anytime soon, seeing that Microsoft and Google have lost their focus for a couple years now and it takes at least another 2-3 years for them to regain their footing if they found a way.

I've seen Windows 8 and I'm still disappointed so yea I'm very satisfied with my carefully-thought decision. And my thought on Google's upcoming version for Android called Ice Cream Sandwich?

Come on now, ya'all just trolling android now.
You gotta at least own one before being a big player, or fanboy, whichever.

Did you see Honeycomb? Asus Transformer runs honeycomb, gets 16 hours -with- the keyboard dock that makes it like a mini netbook/laptop. Apple hasn't came close to that yet with the iPad.
