Leslie Van Houten Has Perole Approved

Not exactly:

". . . The full parole board now has 120 days to review the finding. If it's upheld, Gov. Jerry Brown will have 30 further days to approve or deny parole or order the case sent back to the board for a rehearing...."
 
Thinking he ment that she got approval to go to the next step in the process.
I do wonder though... she has spent almost her entire adult life in jail... what prospects does she have on the outside... granted that should not be a reason to keep her in prison though...

But one more step closer for her...she's never been this close...
She got approval at this level anyway

Her prospects will be bleak, if she gets out it will be interesting to see how she copes with what limited freedom she is granted.

Truth... but what are her options? Stay in? Seems like it would be cruel just to keep her in because her options are limited? There are people who have murdered more and more viciously that have not had to do the same amount of time... unless I am missing something...?

Ouch... that... that would not be a good thing my friend... think a lot of blood would spill...

Well She's way way way to old for him to rape...
Certainly not his type.....

It's not up to me to forgive her not.

If the state feels she's did her time so be it...
 
Maybe not you place... but sometimes you have a kind word... but throwing her to him would be.... bad. Granted when she did the crime originally I would have been all for it. The loss of an innocent life .... is cruelty beyond measure.
 
She'll probably hit the talk show circuit and become a media darling with a reality show.

Hmmm not according to this link... Says that California has a similar law that is in effect and an an overwhelming number of states also have similar laws like the Son of Sam one. NY's was revised from what I can tell.

Case by case I suppose and the victims' families can sue them for damages if they do 'profit'

I dont know where people get the idea she will be forbidden to write a book.
Unless that is condition to her parole
If not
She can write what the hell she wants as she wants. She can have multiple book deals...
What she will not be able to do is profit from it..being free is profit enough in her eyes..market us signs. If she gets out that is.


Considering her fame...

Their will be loopholes..
The profit may not come via hard cash as in here's the loot for the book.
But it can be had multiple other ways.

Don't kid your selfs that no con or felon ever never has ever
Profited after the fact from the crimes...

That's not the real world

The real world world is far more ugly and complex then that.

As for talk shows.
Has ever a felon ever appeared on a talk show?

That's a rhetorical question of course as the answer is obviously yes they have..

So far when these laws have hit the Supreme Court of the United States or their states supreme courts they have been struck down as unconstitutional. Then the states legislature has gone back and watered them down and none have been tested in their watered down forms yet in the SC that I have been able to find. In regards to Scott Pederson and his book, it did come out. I don't know where the proceeds went though.
 
Ahh true that they were watered down but still on the books. I had thought/read somewhere that the proceeds (if there were any...) went to the victim's family... who knows. At any rate if this woman does write a book or whatever I do hope the proceeds go to the LaBianco family- turns out they've spoken out against this parole.

At 66 she may have a harder time re adjusting to the world outside of those walls. Her parents must be long gone by now; don't know if she has any surviving family. Still for a crime that netted the death penalty before CA abolished that and commuted to life sentence...should be a life sentence.
