Leslie Van Houten Has Perole Approved

Yep she can't- once you are convicted and either in or out of prison, cannot profit off it. That's why I was wondering if the 'touring of the talk show circuit" and a reality show would fall under that too....
She could talk about other topics, such as how it is to adjust to life "outside."

. . .

I dont know where people get the idea she will be forbidden to write a book.
Unless that is condition to her parole
If not
She can write what the hell she wants as she wants. She can have multiple book deals...
What she will not be able to do is profit from it..being free is profit enough in her eyes..market us signs. If she gets out that is.
Not in the US, she can't. She cannot profit from the story of her crime. It's the Son of Sam law.

Considering her fame...
You mean infamy.

You should read my post again...

But I'll break it down for you
First is of course my statements how she can write anything she likes,,,,a book as an example.
Upon her release unless her conditions prohibit her.
Is this statement true or false?

Now wether she can do that action for profit or charity or just for the hell of it is a separate issue.
My statement was just regarding she is not automatically prohibited int he u.s. As far as I am aware from writing a book of her dreads or a poetry or her porn or what ever..
The prohibition is on making profit.
Not the actual writing or signing a book deAl

Now
Of course if you or anyone truly believe felons never ever since that law ever profited from their Crime.
Lol

Alright

I find that rather funny though...
Keep believing the hype.

I didn't post that.

Ahh true that they were watered down but still on the books. I had thought/read somewhere that the proceeds (if there were any...) went to the victim's family... who knows. At any rate if this woman does write a book or whatever I do hope the proceeds go to the LaBianco family- turns out they've spoken out against this parole.

At 66 she may have a harder time re adjusting to the world outside of those walls. Her parents must be long gone by now; don't know if she has any surviving family. Still for a crime that netted the death penalty before CA abolished that and commuted to life sentence...should be a life sentence.

I believe the victims family have to go to court to get the proceeds.

Since she really only knows life behind "those walls," unless she has family members still living and willing to take her in, she will be back behind "those walls" within a short period of time.

Though your last statement holds for the usual run o the mill con...
This cat isn't the usual one..

Given her fame, she prob will have more support then any two bit con parolee..
If she plays her cards right she can do very well, with work lined up, he'll maybe even go into being an abortion advocate, few have her hands on experience as they sign...

She has allot of option
Most cons don't

The only thing she has going for her is the infamy of her crime. What she has going against her is her age.

The Son of Sam law is not a US law. It is in some states but not all. Also most that have been challenged in the courts have been overturned on constitutionality laws. The state than waters it down and tries again. The victims or victims families have the right to go after the person in civil court to get proceeds from them, and that includes money made profiting from their crime or crimes.

She's in California, which does have the Son of Sam II law.

There is also US Son of Sam law for federal felons. Not for this case but there is one:

Citation: 18 U.S.C.S. § 3681 (Lexis 2000)
History: Enacted in 1984.

TITLE 18. CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
PART II. CRIMINAL PROCEDURE
CHAPTER 232A. SPECIAL FORFEITURE OF COLLATERAL PROFITS OF CRIME

Right..
But isn't this rather like stating
Stealing is against the law
Thus
No one can steal?

Lol

Sure they have these laws...
That stated
I'm sure more the one felon has profited from their crimes after the fact regardless of these laws.

She may just write her book or what ever and give all the profit to the families or charity or what ever.
Being free after so so long is profit enough in her eyes
Mark my signs

There are 45 states with Son of Sam laws on the books, however, 11 of them have had there laws struck down by the courts(including California) and 10 of them have passed new SOS laws that haven't been tested in the courts yet(including California).

So California's law still applies.
