Actually, both those bikes came from WalMart and were $95 a piece. Daughter's needs a lot of work. She's had a lot of accidents. The brakes are not very good, the gears don't shift well, the seat is forever coming loose and the tires are bent. Son has used his maybe 2-3 times in a year and claims that the seat is hard and too small. He wants us to buy him the gel seat and get a larger one if possible.

Since you sew, maybe you could make a padded seat cover for your sons bike.

Our contractor is just a licensed contractor. He works under his General Contractor. The General contractor owns the construction company. We originally were trying to do what is called an "Owner/Build" where we could avoid the General Contractor. This inspector has created some issues. We are now paying extra to have the General Contractor come in and do it as a regular build. What made this so sticky was our Town Hall had never had a garage conversion to a house before. They have had a house conversion to a garage. They were not sure what all codes or such they needed to be concerned with. Then, they got this new inspector who claims he knows and the problems started. We will not be suing or filing any legal action. That will only take up money we don't have and prolong this process that we'd rather have done with. Right now, we are awaiting the revised letter from the Engineer and the revised plans from the architect. This will take about 2 or so weeks. Town Hall has assured us that there will be no problem after this. They are familiar with both our contractor and the General contractor since they have done a lot of building and remodeling in this town. They are aware of the quality of his work and have said that we could not have anyone better for the money. They have also assured us, that they will not allow the inspector to create anymore problems and are planning on having a County building inspector to double check all the inspections if there is an unfavorable one. They found out, this inspector has a problem with Latino people and both the contractor and general contractor are from Mexico, as is the Engineer and the architect.

Your story is now starting to make sense on whats going on now and I see whats happening from your point of view. It awesome you have town officials on your side, which is rare. I'll be following this thread as I am interested in seeing how it all turn out.

Spoke with contractor this morning.

The Engineer is requiring the inspector to put into a letter or form every single thing that is not correct and why he is refusing the permit. Contractor then went to the county building inspector's office to request advice. They told him what hew must do and said that if he needed any assistance, for him to call and they would be right there. The engineer said the same. When contractor went to speak with the inspector for the Town Hall, the inspector started backpedaling and stuttering and stammering in saying he was hasty with his comments before. He has told contractor to submit and pay for the permit, then he will go through it step by step. He further admitted that based on what he saw, he is required to issue the permit. So, plan will be formally submitted on Monday with payment and we go from there. The engineer further stated that the inspector is not to "dawdle" and take his time. Inspector assures that he will have everything done within 2 weeks.

That sounds like a royal pain in the @$$,

sounds like you got the upper hand at the moment, and you finally made your point with new inspector and you already have the power over him if any issues pop up. just say you have town hall on speed dial now.. :D:cool2:

Kristina, I must say, you certainly do your due diligence! You go girl! :thumb:

The bureaucrats are being nudges but they don't know who they're dealing with. ;)

Contractor must be feeling very positive. He had some men come out yesterday to measure for the plumbing lines and the water lines. Also, one neighbor (one of the good ones) who also sits on our Town Council, came over to speak with contractor. She wanted input from him about the Inspector and all the problems. Boy did they talk for a long time! Seems the Town Council would love to have contractor to come to the next council meeting to fill everyone in. He's thinking about it, but wants to make sure it will not jeopardize everything from the permit to the inspections and all.

Also, we caught someone trying to steal the tile out of our carport. We stopped the guy and daughter went to the Sheriff that lives 2 doors down and he came over in uniform (just got home from work on a break). Guy was arrested and we counted and still have all the tile. We now have it covered with a tarp and have moved a car into the carport to block any way to get it out.

Glad you caught the thief in time!

Sadly, you can't be too careful with construction materials.

Be especially careful with anything copper and AC units. Those are popular targets.

Right, our new A/C unit is on contractor's garage locked up. Also, the plumbing stuff will get locked into our garage when it comes. He will get that placed before he removes the garage doors.

Finally got some pictures uploaded onto the computer.

there is the whole cut into the floor for the plumbing, then a few of the tile for the floors.

We have the down payment made to the septic company.

the idiot came out to take care of tree stumps and managed to take out a 6 foot section of the fence to a neighbor's yard. This is the same neighbor who plays golf in his yard in only his underwear. Luckily our contractor has extra fencing and will fix it for us for no charge. Also, he contacted the Town Hall about the underwear guy exposing himself while golfing and the man got a warning and was told to dress or face a visit from the police. Well, the man came by the house today and profusely apologized and promised to be properly attired before going out of doors. Also, he is not worried about fence and is glad we can get it fixed. Both he and his wife lost their jobs and are running down their savings trying to live. They will get their retirement in another year and they think they can make it until then. We paid to have the trees trimmed that were his. He was very happy.

Also, contractor and the general contractor have both been calling to check the status of our building permit. Hopefully we will get it this next week. The electrician, A/C guy, plumber, and Water Dept are all ready and waiting for that so they can get the work done.

Ur neighbor playing golf in the yard wearing nothing but undies?....Hilarious...long time ago, we had a neighbor that wasn't right in the head....his bathroom window on the side of his house faced our yard...he would open the window while sitting down taking a dump....and my boys were playing football in the yard that day...and we laughing at him, came in and told me about it.....he got mad and mooned all of us!...We called the police, and the boys took a pix of it...really crazy! :giggle:

Man with undies think that he only live in the middle of nowhere? I'm surprised that he went ahead just to play golf with only underwear, for me, I wouldn't do that even if I live in the middle of nowhere. No matter where you are and one day there will be a person who may catch it.

Only YOU would have these types of neighbors..... let show continue..:D

Update last night from Contractor.

The inspector has basically approved of the plans. There are a few things on the actual plans that must be updated before we can get the permit and the architect and engineer agreed with the decision. We will be getting revised plans in another week and then the permit right after that. So, we may get the ball rolling within 1 1/2 -2 weeks.

Septic guy is ready to dig.
Plumbing guy is ready to lay the pipes.
Water guy is ready to install the water main and lines.
Electrician is ready to run the line from the pole to the building.
Electric company is ready to install the meter.

Get that ball rolling!
