Kids suspended from school for playing in their own yard

Oh wow, Steinhauer! I had those same toy guns with that you stuck the roll of the bang caps in too. Looked just like the pic of the one you posted. Loved that post of the pic of Shirley Temple and that ugly little 'Honey Boo-boo' kid. I laughed my ass off. I only ever saw that honey boo-boo kid once over on Youtube... I was appalled. I am from Georgia...born in the Savannah area. Believe me, not all Georgians are like this bunch. urgh.

At least I can say, thank God my childhood was during President Nixon ERA! Most of my toys was made of steel, no plastic and no computer, no gaming console and I was busy outside dealing with air full of lead. I still remember the leaded gas back then and they started unleaded gas when I was teenager. My mom holding me on front seat of VW bettle, no seat belt, no nothing... If they were so bad, here is stupid question... howcome I am still alive?

BTW, that red roll of whatever it is called in toy gun, I love using hammer bang on it so that the whole reel of them gives a serious bang!

I used to play water guns during summer time. I do remember I love to play a hero with toy guns with my old friends. It's shame that everything is so much changed. =/

I remember having fun with friends during recess that we did anything we like to do. During high school, there was a bit of fights from time to time, nothing serious like we hear today.

Now the schools are taking the fun away from kids on what they like to do outside the school. From what I see, after I graduated in mid 90's, I hear the outbreak of school shootings such as the Colorado and Arkansas at the time. Another, after another, school starts to take action and take away and more controlling.

Sexual Harassment is another thing -- such as no kissing, no holding hands, no sitting on lap (I know one's child got suspended for that). The way it is nowadays is going overboard and I don't blame some parents that homeschools their children.

Unfortunately there seems to be a movement to keep people from homeschooling their kids too. Can't be losing all that money per head can they.

Being raised in the mountains where there were panthers, bobcats, bear, timber rattlers, copper heads and other hungry denizens of the forest we always had a 22 rifle at hand. All of us could shoot it.
In the fall it was used for food. Rabbit, squirrels, and other small game.
Like Botti, all of us both male and female had knives. You had to skin things or use them in the garden or grooming or gathering. We too played a fine game of mumbly pegs. If you got the knife to stick in the ground upright closest to your own foot you won.
I can't believe that the school and the neighbor get away with this stupidity. I hope they have a really greedy lawyer. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

I was born and raised in an urban area. I remember skating and biking in the alleys and jumping the bikes on or over rocks - no helmets, padding...riding in the car without a seatbelt. We also ran around in the alley barefoot and played Bloody Murder late at the night in an abandoned yard. We also had water guns and I had various action figures that I liked to play with.
In the Summer, we spent most of our time outside, running around without shoes and climbing trees, turning up rocks to see what was underneath and playing with bugs. I also remember riding on the back platform that was above the back seat of the Volkwagon Beetle.

One time on our block, we tied rope to our waists and took turns being pulled downhill on skates, attached to the back of another kid who was riding a bike.

We were always skinning various parts of ourselves, and jumping off things.
We liked to set up a bucket on top of a small outdoor drink table and see who could be the most accurate throwing rocks into it.

One pair of my friends <it was two sisters> had parents who owned a bar. When the parents weren't home, my friends and I would go downstairs in their house to the parents' personal stocked bar. The three of us ranged in age from 8-11. The older sister would play with matches while we watched. We got the bottles of drinks out and messed with them, pretending to "serve" each other and work in the bar, but never opened them as a group.
