oohh, well, why don't you try being an engineer?? with technology of course. I'm going to try and become a teacher when i graduate (if i make it thru high school..lol) I'm sure there's jobs for you that comes with big cash in the paycheck. Just don't give up. That's all it matters right now. Don't get fustrated. Just keep trying to find a new job if u want to get a new job.

I know, and you got plenty of time. ;)

lol i know, I want to get a job to make my own money instead of asking for my parents money. Just to be able to get the stuff I need like a pair of jeans if they got small, or a binder for school, or new shoes, etc. So i've been saving my birthday money (last year's birthday money. not this year) and my money my parents gave me for my DC trip to buy some shirts that i want from DC. oh well.

Yeah, McDonald's is a good start, I have been working there for three years.....

I would but i can't get a job right now or maybe when i'm done with high school because I'm in the marching band this year and It takes up a lot of my time. I have band rehersals like almost everyday after school from 6:00-8:30PM. And I only have a 2 and 1/2 hr break when school is done for the day which means trying to get my homework done and get some dinner then its back to school for me for about 2 and a half hr again. Then I have to go back home again and take a shower then go to bed and get up around 5:30 in the morning because my bus comes to pick me up at 6:57AM and I get to the school around 7:20AM.

I know the feeling. i was in marching band too. So tiring and busy... so little time to do anything.

You shouldn't be worrying about job and money at your age. I know you'd like to be a responsible, independent young adult but time will come soon... Live your life as a high school student. It'll go by quick. As long as you study well even with your tremendously busy schedule, I'm sure your parents will be MORE THAN happy to get you what you want/need :cool2:

coolsgirlsyer90,
My advice to you is to enjoy doing extracirracular activities and focus on doing well in your education. There's always time and place to worry about money and job.

You worry about relying on your parents for money, don't. When it's time, you can always get a job or apply for SSI/SDDI when in college....

Everyone's different and they choose different paths. Only you know what is right for you and when you're ready to do this and that.

I didn't even have a job until I finished University.

I didnt have my first job until I was senior in high school, so don't worry about finding a job right now. Besides you can't legally work until your 16 anyway and even then your limited to only 20 hours per week.

Since I had a good day at work on Monday -- I have decided to remain at what I am in the job. I'm happy now, it is just that time I posted this thread last week when I was stressing my shit out.

I got another pay rise yesterday and it was tempting to have

You lucky bastard! I dont get a pay raise a all!

Hey I know - I'll ship my crazy co-worker overseas to you, and you get to have that daily challenge that you want....

I can deal with this lady for sure --- no worries ;)

That is good news. It sounds like they know you are valuable as they gave you a raise.

it is the standard procdure to all apprentices - including myself

When do you get past the apprenticeship stage? I know the hiring process for young people in Australia is different than from those in the US?

Dixie, that's correct and my apprenticeship ends this semester (end of the year) and I know, I'm almost close to complete the schitt and all.

Once you complete the apprenticeship you will be hired straight on as a full employee with complete benefits? (I know you already have vacation and medical) Or does it mean you go from working for the government to being able to work in the private sector?

Perhaps with my lack of full understanding, this likely warrants an explanation from downunder.
