I ate peas with black eyes the other day. It was weird seeing those eyes staring back at me.

Yes. We had a bird or two kamikaze themselves on the windows at our beach house. Then we bought some decals that are nearly transparent to humans, but visible to birds, to put on the windows.
No dead birds since then. These decals really work well; we've seen birds start flying toward the windows and then suddenly bank and fly away the other direction.

Sad thing. The bird population has enough problems dealing with the feral cat population in the U.S. I was determined that my house was not going to be an instrument of death to them if I could possibly prevent it.
