It must get tiring!

OKj illio, I have to ask you how tall are you?? I want to see if Midnightsun really is able to see how tall we're... if she does we better made sure to not be naked when posting comments here....

I am 7'2".

Thanks for the thought.

But... My son is not "oral" and we don't have any communication barriers. Hearing aids on or off, we communicate effectively and with ease.

If I had a nickle....

Given your inability to communicate with people on this forum effectively and clearly, I doubt that very much.

Your son uses SEE and does not use ASL as his primary mode of communication, by your own statement. Your son, like any other child raised by a hearing parent that does not understand nor practice the cultural traditions of the Deaf culture and who uses a bastardized form of the language of the Deaf cannot possible identify as Deaf.

Good lord, woman! Do you really think that you can change your story every time your ass gets backed up against a wall and have anyone believe anything you say?:laugh2: Your story has changed so many times, you can't even keep up with what you say!:laugh2:

Good Lord, woman!

My story absolutely has not changed.

I see you're catching a lot of flak here and am wondering why you continue to post. I mean, we tell you in no uncertain terms that SEE is worthless, yet you persist in telling us that we are wrong. Oh well. I guess you must be bored today.

Or feels that negative attention is better than no attention at all. Sad, that.

I wonder where her son is and what he is doing during all of these lengthy diatribes. When my child was young, I certainly did not have time to sit on the computer for hours at a time arguing with people. I was far too busy being a parent and interacting with my child.:dunno2: I must have horrible time management skills.

Why thank you kind sir! :P

(Jillio, we are having a tea party (and a courtesy coffee) - care to join us?)

Why thank you! I believe I will. May I have Earl Grey, please?

A mother gives birth to a deaf child. She decides to go with SEE as the method of communicating with her son. She takes classes and works hard to learn SEE, and I am sure she got flak for "teaching her son sign instead of speaking." She sees that her son understands and signs SEE with ease. They have a teaching routine for a few years, adding more and more words to his vocabulary.

She decides to join a deaf forum and learns that deaf people believe that SEE is worthless and a huge mistake.

Easy to stop this progress and start anew? "No no, NOT WE GO STORE, STORE GO-WE"

Actually, WE GO STORE is not SEE. That is the problem. People who claim to sign SEE actually sign a less that accurate version of English. So the kid does not get a proper language model at all.

SEE was never intended as a communication method. There are numerous reasons why it was not intended as such, and why it is not effective as such. There has been sufficient research done to show the negative effects of using an MCE as a communication method or language of instruction.

So, when a SEE using mother (supposedly) claims that SEE is superior to ASL for deaf children because it teaches English first and foremost, and they do not suffer the language delays or grammatical misunderstanding the ASL users do, said SEE using mother gets corrected. What she says is completelyfalse. Then said SEE using mother, after spending days insisting that she still uses SEE to communicate with her son and he is thriving, waits a few weeks and then begins to claim that she is not using SEE to communicate with her son, she is using ASL. And wonders why everyone is skeptical of anything she claims.:cool2:

Boy, like Berry, this thread grew in pages while I was reading. Sometimes, it doesn't pay to sleep at night or do family things, but wow!!

Okay - it is time the freshen the pots of tea, coffee, and popcorn. For those that want to be a little healthier, I am providing fresh fruit salad and angel food cake.

Looks like we got us a smorgasboard! I just love covered dish parties!
