Inappropriate Signatures

GA, I'm not preaching at you, I was sharing a philosophy. I was merely stating that I feel it was appropriate for OB to speak with you privately on the matter and why. If I were going to preach at you, I am sure I could find more material to work with.
 
IMHO those who oppose these kind of images for signatures and avatar got valid reason to do so. They might want to expose their kids to this site only to find out their kids drooling over these avatar or signature. That is something they dont want to deal with. That is one, secondly more and more FCC is up with internet over these vurglar images and can mess with the site owner. Right now FCC is going after serious porno sites! I have known some porno sites in the United states going out of business or sold to overseas because of stupid FCC regulations. Soon or later they MIGHT go over small cute adult images. That is something the site owners can't afford to let it happen. Third, the site owner is promoting and looking for grants, and those who might give grants to AD may be offended with these signature or avatar and can decide to drop the grant and this AD can lose money, and worse could be shut down of AD. Do we want that? I don't think so.
In other word it is better to be caution than to wait and find out but it could be too late.
 
if i may be so frank here, there is a off button in the control panel, if u feel the need not to view the avtars and the sigs regarding this. u can do so, you have that choice to turn off any images to veiw. that's all there is.... granted everyone has a right to express thier arts, but if its offensive or is cropping up almost everywhere, then you can choose to turn it off whilist you are around your children and then turn it right back on when they are in bed or not at home during the time you use the pc or lappy or mac, either way but i shld also do an aboutface i also find the sexuall explict sigs or avtars to be downright can't remmy the right word for it but for lack of better word ( until i remember the word i want) tawdry. (sp) however we do have the right to be explict with our arts, but one shld also be concectious about kids. which is why i understand eve's point. gotta think abt the young ones who are around and knows what the sexual contents are. however, like i mentioned above, u can turn off the sig and avtars in your control panel. so this way they are not expose and not go into pensiurium. i don't go in to that section. because kids can be around me even if i am in town using my laptop and researching and a thread catches my eye and i may not have looked over in the far right to see where that thread is from when i catch the picture i just go back up and click new postings. so this is what i do.. and when i am at home, everythings free for all because we all are adults here.
 
Nobody flipped out like pancakes when EyesBlueDeaf has a butt avatar art, SteelX had breasts on his avatar in the previous past tense, and other members as well, Then all sudden when I nor GalaxyAngel posted our avatar or signature of partially naked, few members went wild start complaining. :ugh2:
 
It is not the point here... Point is that today many kids are computer literated, they know how to surf the net by themselves. SOme of ADers members can be 12 years old for christ sake, they can turn avatar and signture back on without their parents knowledge or consent. Are you expecting that the Internet are for adults only? Come on!!!

Now you starting to see how these stuff CAN go out of control! At first there is cute animation boobs and asses, now it is getting out of hand with real stuff. See? GA just increased the intensity.

Today, I was googling for a news article on the Idaho School for the Deaf and Blind and the very first article to pop up was an ALLDEAF article. If this is the first thing I come across, it is probably the first thing an elementary student will come across in searching for deaf-related subject matter. Parents of many of these children allow them to do research for school projects without constantly supervising their web activities. As adults, we should be respectful enough to not post questionable material, especially since this is the first exposure to the deaf community that many hearing folks have. Do we really want those folks to think that all deafies are crude, rude, socially unacceptable, and irreverant where children are concerned?
 
Obviously, some people just have NO CLASS and have to be governed by rules and consequences!

I got to say I agree with Cheri here.

It seems to me that some members brought this subject up just to spite the ones that they have a personal beef with.
 
Right! And worse that could happen is that this school administrator might decide that this site is too offense for them and shut the kids off from this site. Do we want that kind of image?

Actually, I brought this up in a general manner, covering ALL the crappy avatars and signatures that should be kept in the PENISARIUM. GA's just happened to be the straw that broke the camel's back.

You should know that there are inappropriate content on the Internet. Yes, there are inappropriate images and videos out there on websites, or at schools or from their friends, You cannot always protect your children from seeing inappropriate images. What are you gotta do? Censoring the entire Internet, keep children lock inside your own home? They may not take parental warnings seriously, That's why I don't allowing my son be on the internet, Only for an hour on parental control. But what about other teens or children being on the internet for hours without parental control? It's not my problem, It's their own parents problem. ;)

What you post in this forum, as well as avatars and signatures, are NOT your property. It is the property of the owner of this board, and he has the final say in what goes on here.

Are there not any rules in place about adult content? Yes, there are and the people that have complained about offensive material being posted in the general forums have every right to do so:

So you wouldn't have a problem with child porn being posted here? Then why get upset if people find adult stuff offensive and bring it up?

right taylor.... so some poeple h ere did voilate it, but concept is like what eve said and u do have a point eve thank u for bringing that up cuz i was washing myc lothes and just now thought of school issues take myspace.com for instance thier ALL OVER the news right now because of the racy and vulgar and sexual contents that are made on the boards. same idea yah the schools will limit but also lock out certain sites, alldeaf may already have been locked out due to racy contents in here... and thats' the word i was looking for racy sexual contents.
 
I might be going off-topic here a bit, but I notice that those who most vociferously castigated Clinton for having sex in the Oval Office and demanded his impeachment are strangely quiet that Bush deliberately lied to get us into a war, and the consequences of THAT are ENORMOUSLY more far-reaching in their effects on our children.
My point is that Alldeaf has a certain rhythm and I am sure this present uproar will naturally subside. We can ignore the few who insist that pictures of body parts cause irreparable harm to our children, because that is merely their opinion and should be considered that way and let it go at that.
 
Wait a minute here, why am I seeing that some of you are bashing at those who see if differently, if you want others to post for their view, then let them without being bashed for what they think or how they see it..... :roll:


I'm not posting in this thread anymore, I see too much bashing and agruing back and fourth.....
