In bad shape here

banned? who banned you?

Illinois. Been that way since the age of 16. My former school tried to force me to do Driver's Ed, and I had to go all the way to state levels to get a waiver to be excused from it. Once they confirmed I had it, they said I could never drive-- ever.

There are people with TS can drive.
What Tourettes Has Taught Me: Driving with Tourettes

If your TS is stabilized so it is ok for you to drive with caution.

Important: You need get TS under control before you can drive.

And that's why I can't drive-- it's nearly impossible to do that. They say it's one of the most severe cases of all time; if I drove, I would more than likely kill myself or others. That is why it's too risky and dangerous.

Government told you?

I have Usher Syndrome and I can still drive without any problem, but important keyword = pay attention all time and watch your surrounding.

I've never heard of Driver's Ed be required. I thought it was optional.

If Mark says he can't drive, better believe him. He knows himself best than anyone else.

Did you got TS under control? No tics?

If not then it is not good idea to drive until you get TS under control.

Which is darn nearly impossible to do, even on public transportation.

I've been working on that. The mentality I've gotten used to is being stubborn, and I've been trying to recognize jokes and the likes, but my mentality is somehow preventing that, and I'd like to be able to recognize jokes,

Ok I'll be serious here and provide a tip on detecting jokes.

If someone makes a comment that sounds so ridiculous and foolish that it can't be a smart idea, it's a joke.

For example, check out this post I made: http://www.alldeaf.com/general-chat/116747-bad-shape-here.html#post2286302

Didn't you think it was ridiculous to buy a 2nd phone just in case your arm fails? That would have been a hint that it's a joke.

That concludes the lesson, good luck :cool2:

Thank You, MangaReader. Yes, I do know what I can and cannot do better than anyone else.

Nope, and the medication I have now helps, but it doesn't eliminate it completely. I have good days and bad days, but I've been seeing more good days than bad days, but I still have my tics.

What you means about impossible to do? I noticed that you can ride a bike and take public transportation.

Public transportation in here is abysmal with no existence in most area, especially in suburb, but used to be excellent in 1950s with streetcars and buses.

If you knew about TS, you would know that people who are focused tend to do better with their tics. If I am riding a bicycle, and having a bad day with my tics, I won't ride it. Too dangerous, and just as risky as a car. If I am able to focus for multiple miles, and keep going, then that's a good day, and if I get home safely, that's even better. However, if I have a close shave because of drivers being inattentive, then that's not such a great day, but it rarely happens, anyhow.

No, I don't. TS is real, and it's not fun to deal with, but I have had it for nearly 22 years, and I have learned to deal with it. And no, I don't blame everything on TS. That is not a smart and unwise move, because if I did, it wouldn't help my situation. Anyhow, I know a lot more than you think I do. I am actually a lot smarter than you think I am.
Yes, it is real but it doesn't have to control your life.

A young man at our church has had it for years. He's now a college graduate, school teacher, married, singer, world traveler, and runs a professional sports blog.

I have learned that people do not bother to go digging around to find older threads or older posts before making a new thread. I do take that time to check before I post. Anyhow, the posts I made wasn't that far from this one. It wouldn't have been hard to find. And plus, you are correct; I didn't mention which thread, because I was thinking of lunch, and we have a visitor here, whom I'll soon be helping set up ntouch mobile. Gotta go now. Bye.
No, we don't "go digging around" but usually use key words to do a search of the forum.

If you can't be bothered to post a link, readers won't bother to search for some random post you've referenced. It's unreasonable to except that. The normal practice is to give a link to that specific post.

And it doesn't. I live independently, and can do a bunch of stuff on my own. I am more than capable of doing many thing people seem to think I cannot do, or seem to think I can do, but can't for that reason, like driving. Now, I don't blame myself for getting it-- I have long since accepted I have it, and it's normal for me these days. It's just that my bad days can really stress me out every now and then, and that's not a good thing, but I have since learned how to handle my stress levels, and I don't consider myself stressed, although people might say otherwise, and I've been doing much better as of late, because prior to joining this site, I'd been down, but when I found this site, I became happier, and I've been steadily improving since then.

I'll work on that. Rarely have to, anyways, but it's something I need to learn how to do.

Better have a 2nd phone in case your arms fail but your legs still work.

Well, He is built like T-Rex... His heads too big and his arms are too short...lol

That device you wear (wrist or necklace) is called life alert.

You have never seen me in person. I can do a lot more than you think. In fact, earlier today, I pushed/pulled 10 bottles of 2-liter pop from my home on the sidewalk, and then pulled them up the stairs here. Those ten bottles of pop are heavy, and there aren't many people who can push or pull that kind of weight, but I am capable. And my arms aren't short, either.
