right. Is that Mexican's fault?
Well, of course, Jiro! Don't you pay attention to Brewer? Mexican's are all responsible for the criminal drug activity here.

I suppose Brewer's blaming Mexico for Arizona's debt too?
I think I would listen to a NARC who has been doing this for years than someone who..... never mind.
Former Narcs Say Drug War is Futile
Law Enforcement Against Prohibition - created by 26-years veteran of NJ state police with 12-years experience as undercover NARC detective
The NARC's view is interesting. I hadn't thought about it from this angle. I'll check out your link and I'm surprised it's from Fox of all the places.
You raise an excellent point there. I used to be pro drug war years ago but now I'm for legalization for pot. It should have occurred to me that the drug war would create a high risk of police corruption and I can see how it'd happen. It makes a lot of sense to me. Anyone who has been involved with substance abuse, either from law enforcement or treatment, sees that this is not a legal issue. It is a societal issue.

We don't seem to be able to learn from history very well. The same thing happened during Prohibition.

don't be surprised. This has been going on for the past decade. All agencies support this view. Currently - the White House is warming itself to that view as well. I believe Obama Administration is the only Administration lately to soften its stance on drug war.
Here's why our drug war is an EPIC FAIL!
The past few Administrations continued to maintain its tough stance on it and to continue spending hundreds of billions of dollars on it. Mind you - BILLIONS of dollars... not millions. That's how much we're spending on it and not on our domestic affairs that needed our urgent attention like education fund, social welfare, highway/bridge/road repairs, etc.
1. We provided expensive military equipments and weapons & trainings to South America to combat against million-dollars drug cartels.
2. Our military do perform military strikes in conjunction with South American military. This costs us taxpayers millions of dollars at our expense for foreigners
3. Ban on alcohol? fail. Ban on gun? fail. Ban on drug? fail. Ban Policy is an EPIC FAIL!
Conclusion: We continue to spend billions of dollars when a fraction of that amount can be put to use to fix our problems - drug rehabilitation and drug awareness programs. To me - it's a simple problem. Currently - we are not doing that. We're busy imprisoning people and by doing that - we're making private prison corporations richer and richer at our expense. Majority of our prisons in America are private business. That's a billions dollar business. and a very lucrative business. Because of that - the local judges get incentive from corporation for sending juveniles or people to prisons because the prisons get compensated by state/federal government.
Rehabilitation Program? we do have some rehabilitation programs but most of them are not sufficiently funded. I guess it's more profitable to keep imprisoning repeated offenders than to rehabilitate them (because chance is high that they will not be repeated offenders).

I believe Obama Administration is the only Administration lately to soften its stance on drug war. Because of that - more and more states are legalizing marijuana clinic and citing people with small amount of marijuana instead of imprisoning them. Just give them fines and go away.

A couple of years ago, I read a report where the Feds had spent 3 billion dollars burning off marijuana grows in the Smoky Mountain region of Appalachia. Know how much marijuna they manages to burn off? It was estimated to be $300,000 dollars worth street value. 3 billion to get rid of $300,000 worth. Yeah, that makes sense.
Actually, I should have seen this coming from the police. I never thought they'd reconsider. I'm glad they're coming around.
As for the other reasons that you listed, this is why I have changed my mind on the drug war and I have been pro legalization for more than five years now.
The Drug War has been an epic fail.
Incorrect. Lawsuit is valid.
Odd. You are in favor of states attempting to usurp Federal jurisdiction? Are you one of the supporters of secession, as well?
I'm loling at people who keep saying the feds are doing nothing. oh man I'm loling big time.
I'm loling at people who keep saying the feds are doing nothing. oh man I'm loling big time. if they are doing nothing - that would make the current Arizona's problem looks like a misdemeanor crime
