If you live in Pensacola you would know. Pensacola Junior College.

Sorry. I don't live in Florida so I don't know where Pensacola is. Anyways, I think PJC is somewhere near Bay Blvd Pensacola, FL 32503.

:gpost: That's good idea for Taurus to sell his stuff that he never use it.

I suggest you start selling on ebay and make some money to pay off for your college. If you own some domain names then you would of selling it on ebay for higher bidder win to pay off your college education. I know I have a lot of domain names but I will wait until later to sell it.

Taurus, Do you have a financial aid from NID/RIT? I never have been in RIT before. If you have financial aid and will help you to pay off for classes what you take for semester.

I cant get special student loans.. All I can get is bank loans.. but I dont like to see it price go higher and higher that I cannot afford it later on in my life..

Taurus, I have a question for you that could make a difference in the amount of student aid you receive.

First of all, are you <23 years old?
Secondly, when you filled out your FAFSA, did you fill it out using your parent's income, or your own income?

Gee. That's hard. After my sisters graduated from their college, and it took eight years for them to pay off their loan. What a suck!

I have an idea. If we know the person very well or he has been long in this AllDeaf.com and has been posting and replying number of time in this forum. Then why not some of us contribute $5 toward his education. In return, he will have to achieve his education with GPA of 3.0 and show us some of his progress toward getting his degree. Plus he will have to participate with us when someone is in needed. I know it may sound crazy.

if 5,000 registered member contributes $5 and that would be totaled to $25,000.

It's up to us.

yea, I know. 6 years after graduation, I am still paying for my student loans and I am sure I got more than 10 years left before they are paid off. Oh well.

Taurus...good luck in finding a solution!! I am sure u will find something.

What about applying for scholarships?

they dont pay me enough... just few thousands of dollars..

I believe in the state of Illinois, VR will pay full price for tuition/fees and books/supplies if you meet their financial criteria. What state are you from? I guess they have different policy on this.

this sux, i truly hope you'd find a way, how about siigning up for a job like transporting alligators for mafias? jk

How old are you, may I ask? It's good to see you so determined! I am sure you will find a solution that will make you happy. I am afraid it may just take a little more time than you expect. It is never too late to finish college.. I know of people who have finished college (like my mom) in their late thirties and forties. Nothing wrong with that.

i'm 20 now..

To tell you the truth...I went to RIT/NTID back in SVP 94' and has been there since 1996. During those years, I didn't have SSI or financial support from my parent. Yes, DVR paid for my college but still I was bored because I don't have the money to spend for personal things, going out, do laundry, and or have fun.

So I quitted and then went to lived in Philadelphia, PA with my cousins. At that time, I applied SSI and couple months later I applied for DVR to help me to get the education I needed.

I went to CTI in Johnstown, PA and in 2000 I graduated with AST Degree in Computer Servicing Technology. I also have soldering certificate.

Back in 2001, I found a job as solder/assembler for electronic company in NJ and worked there for almost 1 year. But then I left the company before next month anniversary. I left because the place caused me health hazard.

Then in 2003, I went to work for Health Care company for 4 year until last year me, employees, staffs, and employers got lay off because of company closures.

Before they trying to get rid of all of us, they announced that we are entitled to Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA). I have been getting TRA payment for allowance and they also will pay for my college for up to 2 years that what I heard.

When I applied for Monmouth University, I have been struggling with TAA representative with MU. MU denied TAA billing and TAA representative turned me down because MU is a private and expensive college.

I then applied for DVR and she approved me for MU. She said she will pay for my college 10 k per year and $400 per semester for books. The MU awarded me $6,000 Academic Excellence per year and I received Federal Subsidized Loan, Federal unsubsidized Loan, and Federal Perkins Loan.

The total for MU cost tuition fees per semester is $12,349 without room and board. Therefore I am just commuting and it's just 15 minutes from where I live.

This Fall I will be studying Computer Science for just 2 or 3 more years. I want to get B.S. Degree in CS so I can get a government's job or any company that pays good money.

hmm interesting..

well I dont have stuff that I dont use everday..
all i have is clothes for me to wear, laptop, supplies to cook food, towels, and else.. I dont have video games cuz i dont play them.. I dont have any shit stuff.. yea.. i know.. it wont help me to try ebay..

Taurus, Are you able to take NTID/RIT classes thru internet and stay at home to save the cost? Would that save you some cost in tuition?

sorry, somehow this made me laugh.. there is no online courses in NTID..

yes some online courses in RIT.. but not easy for deaf ppl. deaf ppl need to go to classes to understand more clearly.. (they said online courses are mostly for speaking.. u have to listen.. and no closed caption)

If you're old enough and not claiming your parent as dependent, you will get FAFSA depend on your job salary and no job salary. I think I will be qualified for FAFSA next year.

Well I remember FAFSA will check my income.. not my parents' incomes anymore if i'm 23 or 24.. right?
