be buried or be cremated?

If you want to be buried, why?

If you want to be cremated, why?

My family's tradition is to be buried but my mom just passed away almost a year ago and she broke the tradition. She decided to be cremated to lessoned the emotions. I was stunned when she decided to do that. When she was cremated, things were easier, less painful, and short memorial service. I decided I wanted to be cremated too and to spread my ashes into the ocean where the dolphins are. (I love dolphins)

I would become a Bdelloid Rotifer and then be cryogenically frozen. Then, upon being thawed out, I'll become human again. Or maybe some superhuman. Ah, yes.

You can't cryogenically freeze a human (yet) because water expands when it freezes, and human cells burst when this happens.

Traditional Chinese culture frowns on cremation. There's an ancient belief that our souls are part of our bodies. By destroying one's body, you are also destorying one's soul. Now it's the 21st century, convenience and mobility have transformed everything.

I'd purchase a burial plot big enough for my family now. It's a good, albeit unusual, investment, even though some of us may not plan to be buried together underneath six feet of soil. There is an acute shortage of cemetery space; prices for burial plots are skyrocketing every year. The funeral industry knows how to profit from grief.

The futuristic idea of being cryogenically frozen sounds intriguing. I'd love to elect my body for that scientific experimentation!

I chosen Cremated. I wanna my ash to be sprinkled at Lake Tahoe. I am not sure if they are allow to though. If not then Pacific Ocean.

The whole family on my hubby's side and my sides are for burial but my hubby & I decided for cremation.

Because we don't want worms and spiders come to creep on me after saw the 25 years old corpse (original) at world body museum in 2003. :Ohno:

We agreed to be cremated because it's easier and quickly... none of spiders and worm come to eat our ashes...

Both sides.. of our families are buried and cremated..

I would like cremated and sprinkle some of my ashes over my dad's grave.. and let the kids decided to do with it.. :)

I don't know about myself. I could be buried, but I'd simply be wasting 7 ft of graveyard space. If I was cremated, I could simply have a tombstone that only takes up 1 ft of graveyard space instead of the usual 7 ft. I would also want to have my ashes spread somewhere... dunno yet though. I'm sure that when I am close to dying, I will know where. ;)

I would love to have my ashes to sprinkle at my garden or whatever but here in Germany is not allowed!

Ashes belongs to urne... You have to decide which you want to have urne to be buried or leave urne to "urne collect".

What if, you die tomorrow or in a week later, any time sooner than you think ?

Then I guess I'm just... dead. :dunno:

I got a graveyard all set for my parents (still alive), self and my wife. Our stillborn daughter is already buried there. There is a verse quoted:

1 Corinthians 15:55

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

I would like to have my cremated to sprinkle over on my Mom's grave too.

So my life insurance amount will be going to my husband and two sons. They need money as much as they can. I did not want to spend $ on the wake and funeral. I do not want audience people cry dripping on my face. No thanks, I want them to remember of my sense of humor as good memory instead of sad.

I hate to going to wake and funeral. I had enough of this three teenager kids in the past accident with my son's friends alot of support.

Idk yet...I havent thought about it very much. Maybe be cremated and my ash can go on lake trout in north bay ontario. not sure yet.

Make sure to write somethin' down and hide it elsewhere in case, if you die tomorrow or sooner than you think.

As for me, I would prefer to burn my body and blow my ash away in the wind. Preferably in Alaska area. :)

whatthehell? I thought there was a thread about "taking a pictures of the deceased people at funerals"..now i cant find it...did it just disappeared or what? I cant find it here.....i hate that when i typed in some comments yesterday then the next day, its GONE! GRRRRR!
Its not the first time, either...geez.

Sorry to be off topic.....but i talked about being cremated in that thread yesterday.......oh well......

I don't care what they do to me when I'm gone. I won't be here.

Vamproxy you won't ever die will you? Maybe with wooden stake.

I want to be cremated. I've also toyed with donating my body to science.

As for why, it's cheaper on my family, but it also seems less macabre. The idea of my body rotting in the ground gives me the willies.

umm, i already told my mom what plan for me... i decided cremated cuz of if u wanna buried, they wont see ur body again.. it waste so ..

Cremated...so, I won't be zombie who wobbles on the earth and be headshot by army.
