Idiots are a dime a dozen....

Yeah, deafskeptic, what's up with the personal attacks, especially when you say ".........I don't pretend to know anything.......?"

I normally don't attack anyone despite what they say but I take an exceptation to koko because I've been thru this with him before. His posts are inconsistant with his claims of scientific expertise. It's hard to tell if he's being intellectually dishonest or if he doesn't know as much as he claims. One thread that he made on book learning made me wonder if he had even gone thru grad school. I can provide links.

He's been using Gore as a way to distract from the scientific claims and trying to make Gore represent the scientific community. The problem with that tactic is Gore is not a scientist. I'd listen to Gore regarding polices re the enviroment because that's what politicans do. For science, I'll take a reputable climatologist word's over Gore anytime.

I'm not the only one who wonders. I don't pretend to know everything about science but when stories like koko's keep changing, I'm likely to become skeptical.

I said repeatedly and in bold, too, SEA ice.

Icebergs are frozen water floating in an ocean. Not land ice.

The freezing of ocean water and the eventual melting does not change the sea level one bit. Again, review the videos about the melting ice cubes.

Excuse me, I already saw this video but you and my friend got different define of ices.

no.... no... no..... the sea level changed because of frozen ice on land melting away into water.

Do you consider Iceberg as affect the sea level when all of it is melt?

It is unchanged.

It means water level will increase if there is more ice with very little water?

Did not seen your post.

As long as ice float, water level will not increase.

Density is mass per unit volume.

Now, if all the snow and ice in the desert of Antarctica were to melt then that's something for us to worry about.

We'll all live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine...

Good thing Canada footed the bill on his rescue.

My feeling on this topic is this: if Al Gore was not quoted, and the entire global warming debate had no implications on how businesses operate; i.e. profits remained unchanged, I doubt there would be any threads on it from the OP. To say that the climatologists are idiots if they subscribe to this global warming theory, coming from a thread poster on AllDeaf, seems absurd. Calling a scientist an idiot makes one look stupid; similar to calling a triathlete a lazy bum. Perhaps that is not the intent, but it has certainly been spun that way in the past.

I think there is a combination of reasons for our climate. To believe that man is incapable of causing climate change seems short-sighted. I recall the silver iodide experiments, where they seeded hurricanes. A small aircraft can intentionally change climate; why not large corporations, trying to make larger profits?

well - man cannot "create" the climate but we can try to prevent it. That cloud-seeding thing? it only works if there's a cloud coming. But what Chinese is doing is trying to MAKE it rain.... which is comical and futile. They've already admitted that they could not do it.

What they can do is change their immediate surrounding and enact environmentally-friendly laws.

Inducing clouds to produce rain thru seeding is not about climate but a change in the local weather pattern. Even our own heat islands in cities made by our asphalts and buildings produce a change in how local weather behaves around these heat islands.

Wirelessly posted

Man cannot create weather conditions, but they can manipulate the geographical features responsible for the weather.
