I want to vent!

Last year, I got in line with my friend at the register. A little girl touched my friend's ass. My friend (woman) was shocked and angry with me, not the little girl. I told her that it was not me. This girl thought that she was with her mother by mistake. Maybe, you might try that to that woman's ass at the supermarket if you see her again. My bad.

LMAO!!!!!!!! HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that. That reminds me of what happened to me at Michael's back in November 2002. My mom and I picked up my best friend that flew to see me in Oregon (I lived in Oregon at that time) from Rochester, New York for Thanksgiving. My mom need to stop at Michael's to pick up few stuffs... My best friend and I were chatting in ASL at the aisle... The woman saw us signing which is obvious that both of us are deaf... She pushed her shopping cart against my back and screamed at me "MOVE IT!" I was like excuse me, didn't you see that we are deaf and signing in ASL? You should pat on my shoulder and nicely inform me that I need to move. She got so stubborn and yelled at me anyway... I couldn't understand what she was saying... I yelled at her really loud enough to get entire store customers and workers to come around and look at us. I did it on purpose to embrass her. She felt like a shit and left the store. They laughed at her.

that is a good one, I feel that, that woman would not return to the store ever again, she would sound like too scared to face another deaf guy.

Otherwise, only two weeks ago, I was at the pub, and this guy was so drunk, and I was talking to a female friend of mine, in AUSLAN ( Australian Sign language), the guy sat on my Sidekick 3, I pulled it out to avoid the damages, but my friend was drunk tapped at his shoulder, and told him to back off, but he turned around and said "what?" and she said that I am deaf and he went with his eyes open and backed away but few minutes later, he was trying to talk to me, but was obviously shouting at my ear, but I ingored him until one of the friends of his (the girls I know from high school) told him to shut up. LOL

One time, my best friend and I went to the bar where the deaf people hung out. My friend and I walked by alot of hearing people. One man told his gf "Whats up with that thing?" (Thing is deaf people) Hearing man thought my friend is deaf so he decided to said it to his gf. My friend stopped and turn around to look at the man. She said "That thing are MY FRIENDS. Ya got a plm with it." He gulped that my friend is hearing and back off.

alot of people who said that comments are ignorant.. I wish they would learn that we are alike them but we cant hear thats all?

Things like this happen all the time.. do not feel that people are singling you out because you are deaf.. there are alot of rude people in the world... everyone need to just accept that fact.. you can either ignore them.. be polite to them.. or act like them..

I agree.

Guess what? Hearing people are becoming more and more deaf lately... Why? Because of ipod and bluetooth. Its happened to me very often when I tried to shop, I voiced "Please excuse me" and they ignored me. I didn't see their ipod or bluetooth so I pat their shoulders nicely. They were like OH SORRY! and giggled. That is really funny now.

Supermarket

I was in my supermarket with my mom because we needed to shop for food. I was hungary so mom gave me some money to buy some candy. After I brought the candy bar, I was eating it when a woman asked me to move. However, I did not hear this woman because I was enjoying my candy bar. When she passed me, she gave me a dirty look. I got :pissed: at her. Now, I wish I wore my "Deaf and Smart" t-shirt from Cafepress.com to show this woman THE REASON I did not hear her.

Those are hard to deal with. you know, we run into people maybe on a daily basis that might have their selfish ways, and also may not have christ. She hurt your feelings, and without understanding on her behalf. Release forgiveness baby, and Pray that God will open her eyes, and give her understanding ,and just ask God to Bless her in those areas he can Bless her. Give thanks to God that he totally loves you and accepts you as you are,and that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. you watch how God works. It will strengthen your heart, it's unfortunate that we face people like that in alot of places, but be strengthened that you have a Wonderful and Great and Big God that loves you oh soooooooo much.
Be Blessed Baby,

Ive had that happen a time or two - especially with people that I did not know. At work most people know that I am HH/deaf so they aren't too mean when it comes to me not hearing them when they are behind me and say 'exscuse me' I just apologize for not being aware and tell them that I am HH/deaf and the best way to get my attention from behind is a light tap on the arm or shoulder. After a while when someone taps me I know it is someone trying to walk by, so we smile and go on about our days.

Ive also been to places like the mall in Ft. Smith and I am sitting on a bench and I have my bags sitting next to me and a woman with a cane came up an asked if she could have a seat- of course this was from behind so I did not see nor notice. Then I saw her walk by and give me an ugly look as if I had intentionally ignored her. I got up said "Ma'am, you can have my seat, I am deaf, so I did not hear or notice you until you moved in front of me."

She apologized for not realizing this and the misunderstanding was cleared up. It wasnt like I was giving up my seat to somone who was 'more' disabled than I am, its the simple fact that she was having difficulty walking and asked if I could share my bench with her for a moment. If I had heard her, I would have not had a problem with it. Being nice can go a long ways, but at the same time, dont allow yourself to get stomped on.
