I was in my supermarket with my mom because we needed to shop for food. I was hungary so mom gave me some money to buy some candy. After I brought the candy bar, I was eating it when a woman asked me to move. However, I did not hear this woman because I was enjoying my candy bar. When she passed me, she gave me a dirty look. I got :pissed: at her. Now, I wish I wore my "Deaf and Smart" t-shirt from Cafepress.com to show this woman THE REASON I did not hear her.
 
As unsuited as society in general is for dealing with disabilities/differences, it's twice as bad at dealing with invisible ones. Sorry that woman was rude to you!

Just confront at her, don't be scared.

I did to hearing people so many time, nothing is new.
 
I'm sorry you had to go through that. And people seem to be getting ruder all the time!
 
I know the feeling. You arent the only one. She isnt worth it. I would say "Oh. I didnt hear you bec I am deaf" If ppl give me the face or an attitude. I would scoff and walk away. It works. Other than that, it's their attitude plm, not you. Don't worry!! You know how New Yorkers are! ;)
 
That is a shame.

Some people are rude.Try not to let it get to you.

I know some people are not so nice nowdays. Sometimes, they have no patience ... or sometimes, they are so stressed out by somethin'... or it could be anythin' that ticked them off. Through my own experience, heavy cities are worse. I like small town with only like 2, 000 or 3, 000 population - that's good enough for me. More friendlier, IMO. :)

sue, i have been in your shoes before when i didnt have my hearing aid on. I would say oh excuse me i didnt hear you cuz no hearing aid as battery is dead and they said oh no wonder. ha.. most people here friendly due to small town.. :)
 
Well, you should have told the rude lady that you are
deaf!
I have the same experience many many times too...*sigh*
When that happens to me, i confront the person and say
im deaf so sorry...and lots of time, they would be embarrassed,
lol! Well, they shouldnt be so rude! right?
